Since 2012, our YouthSpark program has inspired young people to spark change in the world through learning skills, preparing them for the jobs of the future and even providing the tools to help them start their own business.
That’s why it was great to hear that 17-year-old Saviour Okusenogu from Nigeria was named as one of the 10 grand-prize winners of the Microsoft YouthSpark Challenge for Change competition this year.
The global contest, which helps young people turn causes close to their hearts into tangible ways to make change in the world, also aims to inspire socially-conscious youth to imagine how they would use Microsoft technology and resources to support their cause.
Saviour runs the BISET Initiative (Become Inspired in Science and Engineering Technology), organizing various practical science sessions in order to raise awareness about science and engineering technology. Saviour credited Microsoft’s tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Visual Studio, Excel and Access in helping him achieve the foundations behind his inspiring initiative.
In light of his win Saviour believes that “many people around the world will know about my project and what I’m trying to do in my community.”
