14 October, 2018; Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Microsoft today returned – with even stronger presence at the 38th GITEX Technology Week this year, to exhibit under the theme of “tomorrow is here today” and introduce an array of ground-breaking technologies and innovations with focus on intelligent Cloud, Datacenters, and AI technologies of the future for organizations in the region, to achieve more.

Datacenters Zone

At Microsoft’s pavilion, the company is hosting a Datacenter Zone, which features a cutting-edge Augmented reality experience, developed in collaboration with Blink Studios. Attendees can step into an AR portal and take a virtual stroll around a typical Datacenter. Participants can also see first-hand how Microsoft delivers the market-leading sustainability, security and the broadest compliance that has won the trust of customers around the world.

Results from a Microsoft survey revealed that more than half (51%) organization in the Gulf region, named cloud computing a priority in terms of adoption. As the result of this and similar findings from other recognised market-research firms, and in response to overwhelming encouragement from regional customers, Microsoft announced earlier this year that it will build two dedicated cloud datacenters, one in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi, that will bring its trusted services to enterprises in the Middle East.

Artificial intelligence

In the Artificial Intelligence Zone, Microsoft demonstrated the advanced capabilities of its intelligent cloud, including artificial intelligence, business intelligence and cognitive services platforms.

Face recognition, chatbots, emotion detection and object detection will all be included as live demos in the AI Zone, running on Microsoft Azure. Industry-specific showcases, including healthcare, government and finance solutions, were also conducted by Microsoft AI SMEs. Also, in attendance is an intelligent kiosk that provides insights into the GITEX crowd, through emotion detection.

“GITEX has always been an indispensable part of the region’s business calendar,” said Sayed Hashish, Regional General Manager, Microsoft Gulf. “That’s why thousands gather at this event every year – to study, learn, grow and innovate for the future. Our participation this year reiterates that, as we bring tomorrow’s world to GITEX Technology Week and show delegates how digital transformation has allowed real economic development, by arming both the public and private sectors with the capabilities to engage citizens and customers, empower employees, optimise operations, and reinvent products and services. We look forward to continuing our efforts by contributing to the region’s growth across all industries with our latest technologies, empowering them to achieve more.
