Microsoft to bring message of ‘Trust, Transform, Innovate – for the future of Qatar’ at QITCOM 2019

22 October 2019; Doha, Qatar – Microsoft today reiterated its commitment to drive digital transformation in Qatar by announcing participation at QITCOM 2019. The company will exhibit under the theme of “Trust, Transform, innovate – for the future of Qatar” in line with its ongoing efforts to support the Qatar National Vision 2030, to transform the country into an advanced society – that is capable of achieving sustainable development and growth.

“Our presence at QITCOM 2019 marks Microsoft’s continued commitment to Qatar, and our support for the government in their ambitions to accelerate the adoption of innovative technology to digitally transform organizations and empower people for the future of the country” said Lana Khalaf, Country Manager, Microsoft Qatar. “Under the theme of ‘Trust. Transform. Innovate – for the future of Qatar’ our goal is to enable Qatar towards its National Vision 2030 and continue our role as a trusted partner to private and public organisations across the country.”

The nation’s premier showcase for disruptive, smart and next-generation technologies, QITCOM 2019 will be held under the patronage of His Highness, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. Hosted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) under the theme of “Safe Smart Cities”, QITCOM 2019 will be held from 29 October until 1 November and is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors, 300 exhibitors, 100 start-ups and 300 innovators and entrepreneurs, as well as 90 speakers.

Microsoft’s exhibit at QITCOM 2019 will showcase how governments, organizations and start-ups can harness the power of technology to achieve more. Visitors to the Microsoft Stand will gain a chance to experience cutting-edge technologies and innovations, and explore how they can contribute to the country’s ongoing digital transformation journey.

Smart Qatar Showcase

Microsoft’s flagship experience at QITCOM 2019 is the Smart Qatar Showcase, that will demonstrate multiple industry zones within a series of contextual environments, covering transport, logistics, sports, the environment and healthcare.

The transportation zone will unveil concepts such as the searchable city, seamless mobility, universal access and safe journeys; logistics will introduce connected logistics, the digital workplace, dynamic delivery and empowered recipients; sports theatre, that will demonstrate how new technologies  can enable competitive athletes, connected fans, and augmented game experiences; the environment will explore sustainable resources, digital urbanisation, environmental stewardship and connected farming; and healthcare will examine healthcare on demand, extended care, seamless facilities and connected wellness.

Start-ups Zone

Microsoft has had a long-standing commitment to support the growth journey of Start-ups to accelerate locally – and reach globally. This year the company will host a special zone for home-grown Start-ups to showcase their innovations and gain an opportunity to connect with decision makers. These include KickWin; AppLab, Waslaa and Rimads.

Partners Zone

The Microsoft exhibit will host its Partners to demonstrate their solutions built on the company’s intelligent cloud, and how they have been empowering customers to better engage, empower optimise and transform in their digitization journeys. These partners include Ebla, Everteam, ICT, Aveva, Diyar, Symphony, DXC Technology, John Keels, Johnson Controls, Netas, Wipro, Netways, and Integration Xperts

Security Zone

Microsoft has dedicated a zone to Security at this year’s QITCOM to demonstrate the company’s commitment in protecting the digital estates of its customers. In this zone, visitors will gain a chance to experience different cyber-attack scenarios, and how the Microsoft intelligent Cloud is fighting against cybercriminals to better protect, detect and respond to threats.

During the QITCOM exhibition, Microsoft will also host various workshops in line with MOTC’s Tumuhatec initiatives. The sessions will cover topics such as Hacking STEM, Paint 3D and Coding. And additional sessions such as; The Microsoft Hands on Lab that will allow attendees to learn how to deploy virtual machines, secure their identity, and how technologies such as AI and IoT can empower governments to achieve the vision for smart cities , also helping visitors to gain a chance to immerse into deep technical sessions and enhance their Digital Skills in the Cloud.

Also, at QITCOM’s Smart City Expo – Daniel Sumner, Word Wide Director for Microsoft CityNext will deliver a session titled ‘automation systems in smart city public services to shed light on how technology can enable the digital urban living powered by the intelligent cloud and intelligent edge.

Moreover, the company will also be making a series of ground-breaking announcements on exciting new customer projects, partnerships and collaborations across both – public and private sectors.
