2 April 2020, Dubai UAE: The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Microsoft has enriched their smart learning ecosystem with Microsoft Teams to compliment the “distance learning” initiative for students and teachers. The program aims to enhance safety for students and society at large, as a set of precautionary and preventive measures with the ongoing challenges yet ensuring smooth flow and completion of the curriculums.
The Ministry of Education had started utilizing Teams from early FY20 and we have had major success conveyed to HE Hussein Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, soon after. HE communicated his plan to grow on the existing distance learning they offered through their smart learning ecosystem to home school and reach students of severe illness.
The plan with the ministry was to launch virtual learning twice a week starting from September 2020. However, with the recent crisis of COVID-19, we have had to accelerate the pace to go live by March 22nd allowing us only a three-week timeframe to run Teams as a remote learning tool successfully. In addition to the public users, HE Hussein has made a statement to all schools across UAE that learning must never stop.
In order to support every institution in the UAE, HE had committed on providing a full ecosystem that includes Microsoft Teams along with deep integration of MOE smart learning platforms and interactive learning resources driven by AI to enable each of them. With the current usage of Teams and adoption, training of teachers as well as customer relationship, Microsoft Teams was the platform of choice. Today, MoE being has approximately 350K active usage daily.
