Microsoft supports Expo 2023 Doha as the Technology Partner

Expo 2023 Doha has partnered with Microsoft to pioneer sustainability solutions and innovations for a greener Qatar and enhance visitors’ experience. The collaboration which was announced at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Municipality of the State of Qatar, underscores Expo 2023 Doha’s commitment to showcasing the latest technology during the exhibition, taking place between October 2023 and March 2024 at Al Bidda Park.

For his part, H.E. Minister of Municipality, Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, said: “The agriculture and horticulture sectors are undergoing a tremendous technological transformation, as technology is playing a crucial role in developing sustainable systems capable of addressing the pressing environmental challenges facing our world today. As the host country of Expo 2023 Doha, we are delighted to collaborate with Microsoft, a global technology leader, to introduce the world to technology-powered agriculture.”

Through this collaboration, Microsoft will showcase Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability related solutions available for organizations across industries to accelerate achieving their sustainability goals. The technology company will also facilitate awareness sessions to highlight ways that organizations and individuals can reduce their carbon footprint, organize hackathons, as well showcase Microsoft Sustainability Partner ecosystem. Microsoft will also explore enabling Expo 2023 with smart and advanced technology to deliver a unique digital experience for visitors. In addition, the parties are in discussion to expand their collaboration by Microsoft becoming exclusive technology sponsor of Expo 2023 Doha.

For her part, Lana Khalaf, General Manager, Microsoft Qatar congratulated the State of Qatar represented by the Ministry of Municipality for hosting Expo 2023 Doha, the world’s largest horticulture exhibition. She said, “We are excited to showcase our AI enabled smart solutions specifically designed for the agriculture, horticulture and natural resources conservation sectors with the aim to help governments and companies achieve economic and societal benefits and create a more prosperous and sustainable future.”

Led by Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality, Expo 2023 Doha will take place from 2 October 2023 to 28 March 2024 in Al Bidaa Park, Doha, under the theme ‘Green Desert, Better Environment’, marking the first international horticultural exhibition held in the Middle East and North Africa ‎region; The multifaceted event where ornamental gardens, diplomatic encounters, business meetings, public ‎debates, conferences, artistic and culinary events, and live shows are to take place is expected to attract more than three million visitors.

It is worth noting that Expo 2023 Doha will provide a platform to discuss and address key environmental challenges facing the region such as desertification, food security and water availability, while highlighting the innovations needed to complete the ecological transformation and build societies resilient to current challenges.
