Unleashing Digital Innovation in Indonesia, NTT and Microsoft Unveil the Digital Experience Center in the Digital Hub of BSD City

BSD City, January 18, 2024 – Microsoft Indonesia and PT NTT Indonesia Technology, a part of the NTT Ltd. company, solidify their collaboration as they officially unveil the Digital Experience Center (DXC) in the thriving Digital Hub of BSD City. The DXC, spanning 525 m2, stands as an innovation hub equipped with comprehensive digital amenities, dedicated to fostering the birth of more digital innovations, accelerating business development, and propelling the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy.

The DXC unveiling ceremony was graced by the presence of Irawan Harahap (CEO Digital Tech Ecosystem & Development Sinar Mas Land), Ridwan Darmali (President Director of PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk), Saleh Husin (Managing Director President Office Sinar Mas), Samuel Abrijani Pangerapan (Director General of Information Application, Ministry of Communication Republic of Indonesia), Budi Arie Setiadi (Minister of Communication and Information Republic of Indonesia), Andi Ony (Acting Regent of Tangerang), Dharma Simorangkir (President Director of Microsoft Indonesia), Hendra Lesmana (President Director of NTT Indonesia Technology), and Aris Sulistyanto (Head of Transformation, NTT Indonesia Technology) on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the DXC, Green Office Park (GOP 9), BSD City.

This collaboration encompasses a joint identification of technological needs based on industry type and scale. It offers an extensive array of technological solutions ranging from business applications, security, infrastructure, connectivity, to artificial intelligence (AI). Budi Arie Setiadi, Minister of Communication and Information Republic of Indonesia, conveyed, “The government, through the Ministry of Communication and Information, is committed to accelerating Smart Manufacturing and Smart Cities by developing 5G and even 6G as the main enabler to expedite the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) in Indonesia, leading towards the vision of 100 Smart Cities in Indonesia by 2045. With the inauguration of the Digital Experience Center today, I am confident that there will be even more new innovations that can be utilized to drive smart city development. We hope that the collaboration between Sinar Mas Land, NTT Indonesia Technology, and Microsoft Indonesia will also bring positive benefits. We encourage such good initiatives to be continued by industry players so that digital technology can be adopted to enhance the quality of life, advancing Indonesia forward.”

Through this integration, the government, industry players, and communities intending to use DXC for startup incubation, for example, have the opportunity to network with a broader digital ecosystem, exchange ideas with technology experts in their field, and much more. The management of DXC by these two global technology giants provides a unique synergy to accelerate the birth of world-class innovations in Indonesia.

Dharma Simorangkir, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, articulated, “Indonesia’s position as the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia places upon us a greater responsibility to innovate more rapidly. Our innovations will not only propel leaps for Indonesia’s digital economy but also for Southeast Asia. Through the inauguration of the Digital Experience Center, which will nurture and birth new digital innovations for cross-sectoral innovators, we hope to make a more significant contribution to Indonesia. The inauguration of DXC marks a continuation of the global alliance between NTT and Microsoft, focusing on joint innovation for the development of the all-photonics network and digital twin computing areas. These innovations aim to foster sustainable solutions with energy efficiency as a primary goal, applicable across various industries, including the implementation of smart city initiatives. Globally, Microsoft’s diverse solutions and NTT’s experience in smart city development have been implemented, notably in Las Vegas, USA. In Indonesia, NTT and Microsoft are collaborating to support Sinar Mas Land in accelerating the realization of the transformation agenda for BSD City into an integrated smart city through the utilization of hybrid infrastructure.

The Digital Hub envisions becoming the future technological ecosystem of Indonesia, comprising creative institutions, education, enterprises, talent development, startups, venture capital, as well as national and multinational companies. By 2024, the Digital Hub has seen the participation of 40 companies in the technology ecosystem, including several multinational companies such as MyRepublic, NTT, NTT Data, Microsoft, Imperial Group, Ruang Guru, and Indonesian unicorn startups like Traveloka and Tokopedia.

Various non-formal IT schools with international standards such as Apple Academy, Binar Academy, Purwadhika Digital Technology School, Hacktiv8, and international educational institutions like Monash University and Binus University are integral parts of the Digital Hub ecosystem. Additionally, creative institutions such as G2G, Imajin, Social Bread, DCT Agency, and Lucy Entertainment Park contribute to the vibrant atmosphere. In terms of startups, companies like SIRCLO, GoWork, SWAP, Hologram Indonesia, V-Office, Fore, Paper.id, AMODA, JumpStart, AKAR, Waste 4 Change, and Beam have joined the Digital Hub ecosystem. Furthermore, the presence of Living Lab Venture completes the ecosystem with its venture capital offerings.
