Gmarket and Microsoft Korea strengthen collaboration… Opening Microsoft official online stores

  • Utilizing Gmarket and Auction as online distribution channels of Microsoft’s key products including Surface and Xbox consoles
  • Gmarket expected to generate synergies by supporting marketing campaigns based on its experience of operating e-commerce

Gmarket will strengthen collaboration with Microsoft Korea to open online stores where consumers can purchase directly from Microsoft, hosted through Gmarket and Auction.

The announcement was followed by the gathering of Gmarket CEO Hang-il Jeon and Microsoft Korea CEO Ji Eun Lee on July 26, 2022, at Gmarket headquarters in Seoul. The two companies are partnering to enhance the companies’ e-commerce offerings with diverse marketing activities to increase benefits and convenience for customers. The ability to purchase select Microsoft products, hosted through Gmarket and Auction, is the first of several shopping experience enhancements to come from the partnership.

The new online store launch with Gmarket allows Microsoft Korea to expand its distribution channels, enabling domestic consumers to explore Microsoft products in various ways. Consumers can purchase a wide range of Microsoft products like PC and game accessories, Xbox consoles, and Surface devices on Gmarket and Auction.

“The opening of Gmarket and Microsoft Korea’s online stores is meaningful since it can provide a better shopping experience for consumers by concentrating the technologies and e-commerce capabilities by both companies,” said Hang-il Jeon, CEO of Gmarket. “Gmarket will continue to strive for both companies to achieve remarkable results through a close partnership.”

Gmarket and Microsoft Korea will introduce new Microsoft products and design marketing campaigns through the online stores.
