Almost a decade later, the Iowa State University senior, 22, has made a presentation to the United Nations and is such a winning veteran of hackathons that she’s now a co-organizer of the International Women’s Hackathon 2014 set for April 25 – 27.

Brazilian professor inspires students to participate in the International Women’s Hackathon 2014

In her desire to increase the number of women in computer science programs, professor Rosiane de Freitas made sure the Institute of Computing of the Federal University of Amazonas (ICOMP/UFAM) was the first Brazilian university to take part in last year’s inaugural International Women’s Hackathon, mentoring a group of girls who participated in the event. This year, de Freitas has inspired other female students to participate in the International Women’s Hackathon 2014.
