WASHINGTON DC, July 14, 2014 – REALTIME one of Amazon’s top AWS customers and 2012 Gartner ‘Cool Vendor’, has selected Microsoft Azure to host its Real-Time Content Delivery Network (RTCDN), a revolutionary solution with the potential to be the standard for real-time apps and the Internet of Things.
A Memorandum of Understanding between Microsoft and REALTIME has been signed today in Washington DC by João Couto, General Manager of Microsoft Portugal, and André Parreira, CEO of REALTIME, outlining the future relationship between the two companies.

This innovation opens up new business opportunities for mobile, cloud and the Internet of Things, with only a few lines of code needed for developers to include REALTIME capabilities into their applications.
To support their stringent business needs, REALTIME developed a multi-cloud strategy for business continuity deployed in multiple geographies, and currently handles in excess of 3 million messages per second connecting over 250 million (MAUs) monthly active users.
The REALTIME CDN infrastructure spans over 7 global datacenters, using more than 200 virtual machines and 1600 cores to support more than 160TB data transfer per month.
From Amazon to Microsoft Azure
With a SaaS business model, REALTIME needed a scalable IaaS architecture. Until now, REALTIME relied on Amazon Web Services for that purpose, being a Certified AWS Partner.
