Microsoft Singapore names new Consumer Channel Group Director

SINGAPORE, May 12, 2014 – Microsoft Singapore today announced the appointment of Mr Colin Cheng as Consumer Channel Group Director to continue driving the momentum of its consumer business in Singapore.

As Director for the Consumer Channel Group for Microsoft Singapore, Colin is directly responsible for overseeing the growth of various business categories for the consumer market. He manages the OEM, Retail, Consumer Hardware & Software and Channels with partners such as mobile operators and hosting service providers. Colin will also develop and implement go-to-market plans for Windows Phone.

Colin is a 30-year veteran of the technology industry, bringing with him a wealth of experience in regional IT and consumer sales, marketing and general management. He has pioneered and led various technologies and concepts in managing the retail business in a variety of channels and across diverse teams in South Asia.

In his previous role spanning over seven years in Apple South Asia, Colin was the Country Manager for Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Emerging Markets. In his last two years in the role, he was responsible for managing and growing the Retail business in the Consumer Electronics segment for South Asia.

Prior to this, Colin spent close to six years as Director of Sales with SupportSoft Asia Pacific, which provides self-healing software solutions to Windows PCs and technology support services for Telcos and MNCs across Asia Pacific. Colin has also held roles in IBM, where he was previously responsible for the Software Channels business in South Asia and also served as General Manager and Branch Manager for two of the company’s joint-venture, system integrator companies in Singapore, which offered ERP Solutions, Consulting and Services to the SME and Enterprise sectors.
