April 28, 2022 – Microsoft Korea’s online forum ‘Microsoft Everywhere 2022’ broadcast live every Wednesday from April 6, a total of 4 times, and has now successfully finished.

This online forum was prepared to share vivid experiences and business insights of the digital transformation journey from local companies Microsoft Korea collaborated with. Especially, it drew a lot of attention from the pre-registration stage and received mass attention for a month as it revealed the vivid success stories of companies on each subject in order.

Series 1. Collaborate: Hybrid Work Model

First, the cases of companies were introduced which increased productivity through a hybrid work environment. From that moment, the highlights were on various cases of achieving smooth communication and collaboration among team members by using Microsoft Teams, which is Microsoft’s collaboration platform and supports all areas of work including video conferencing, chatting, phone calls, document collaboration, and process automation.

For example, Hyundai Glovis built a smart workplace around Microsoft Teams. It did not only maximize the space utilization by changing the office phone system to Teams Phone in response to the implementation of the autonomous seating system but also reduced management costs by separating the work and private life of employees according to the work environment. Another noteworthy advantage was that anyone can easily set up the system, in addition to excellent connectivity and voice call quality.

Series 2. Innovate: Innovation through Cloud

Moreover, it also shared the flexible infrastructure operation, deriving data-driven insights, cost reduction, and the introduction of new operating methods of the innovative strategies of companies with Microsoft Azure.

Kolon Benit successfully developed PeopleWorX, a cloud-based HR service. Particularly, it secured cloud-native technology capabilities, shortened service introduction time, and maximized service elasticity. Azure was applied in the development of the HR service which has reliability, AI, big data, hybrid integration, and a security system.

It also introduced the case of the Korea Transport Institute, which built an Azure-based cloud center and innovated in the development of an autonomous driving-based public transportation system. The establishment of the cloud center reduced costs by 87% compared to the existing on-premises system and improved the overall system stability of autonomous cooperation to 43.6% due to the flexible operation optimized for load fluctuations. And sharing research results in real-time became easier as well. Power BI helps intuitive understanding by sharing visualization-based data which is collected in various routes such as autonomous buses, signals, traffic, and C-ITS.

Series 3. Safe: Security for a Safe Business

The third session introduced various security strategies of companies for safe digital transformation. Microsoft especially emphasized that an end-to-end strategy must be preceded as security threats are becoming more and more sophisticated in the new normal era.

In fact, Microsoft’s security services provide integration of more than 40 categories, enhancing security and helping reducing costs. Also shared the methods for establishing a Zero Trust strategy as the first step in responding to the new security era.

Series 4. Enable: Development for Generating New Possibilities

Lastly, it revealed the most trendy and latest technology examples such as Microsoft’s DevOps, AI, mixed reality, and the stories of the developers who lead changes by opening new business possibilities together.

E-Mart succeeded in automating the entire DevOps process that was previously performed manually by introducing Microsoft Azure’s AI/ML. It enabled the software to update by its own schedule through this regardless of hardware changes or other physical updates. Along with it, it promoted a DevOps culture that allows various roles such as development, IT operations, quality engineering, and security to collaborate with each other to change the way of collaborating at work fundamentally. As a result, it achieved data-based business innovation, such as developing a new system that recommends products customized to individuals as well as payment and delivery.

Ji Eun Lee, CEO of Microsoft Korea, said, “Innovation is not far away” and “There are increasing number of cases in South Korea showing significant growth through digital transformation to the extent that it is no longer necessary to look for cases abroad.” She added, “Now we must prepare for the new normal era” and “Microsoft will continue to provide holistic support for innovation and development of local companies’ digital transformation, just like the success stories of the local companies introduced at the forum.”
