The journey from Pangkajene Sidenreng, a sub-district in Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi to Bangkok was never just a change of scenery for Mansur. For the principal of SMP Negeri 2 Pangkajene Sidenreng, it was a testament that an AI agent that he developed, born inside a classroom in a regional town, could find its place on a global stage.
On February 24–26, 2026, Mansur represented Indonesia at the AI4Good Partner Expo in Bangkok, Thailand—a forum that brings together educators, technology leaders, and innovators from across the world to share best practices in the ethical and impactful use of artificial intelligence (AI) for society.
Mansur attended alongside Arief Suseno, AI Skills Director at Microsoft; Rashvin Pal Singh, CEO of Biji-biji Initiative; and Fabsya Farazzahra, Program Director (Indonesia) of Biji-biji Initiative, in a cross-sector collaboration driving the use of AI for social impact. As part of the Asia CELA Embassy, the forum saw organizations from across the region present real-world solutions, ranging from inclusive education for visually impaired children in India to AI-powered disaster monitoring in urban Thailand.
From Classrom Challenges, a Solution Was Born
At the event, Mansur presented MathMentorAI, an AI agent designed to support mathematics learning at the junior high school level. MathMentorAI is a 24-hour digital math tutor aligned with the Kurikulum Merdeka (Indonesia’s Independent Curriculum), serving as both a learning companion for students and an assistant for teachers in designing more effective and relevant lessons.

The innovation grew out of real challenges on the ground. Many students still view mathematics as a difficult subject with little relevance to their everyday lives. Meanwhile, teachers need more time and support to develop quality teaching materials tailored to the diverse needs of their students. MathMentorAI was developed to answer these needs as an interactive, contextual, and adaptive solution.
In practice, MathMentorAI helps:
- Students in grasping concepts through step-by-step scaffolding, practice exercises, problem-solving walkthroughs, and assessment preparation such as ANBK/AKM
- Teachers in drafting ATP (learning flow), teaching modules, LKPD (student worksheets), HOTS-based numeracy questions, and formative and summative assessment rubrics
With a numeracy-based approach (referencing PISA principles), Indonesian local context, and differentiated learning aligned with Kurikulum Merdeka Phase D, MathMentorAI fosters a more personalized, relevant, and meaningful learning experience.
The development of MathMentorAI is also inseparable from Mansur’s participation in the Microsoft Elevate: AI for Educators program through the platform edukator.elevate.id. Through this program, teachers are not only equipped with AI skills, but also encouraged to design and build AI-based solutions (AI agents with Copilot Studio) that address real classroom needs. This support enabled Mansur to develop MathMentorAI from an idea into a solution that can be directly applied in a learning context.
To date, the Microsoft Elevate: AI for Educators program has sought to reach 77,000 teachers and education staff (GTK) across Indonesia. Mansur’s specific contribution is reflected in:
- 1,237 GTK successfully reached and guided in the use of AI for learning
- Direct impact on 60 students who have benefited from using MathMentorAI in their learning
Mansur’s participation in the AI4Good Expo demonstrates that educational innovation does not always have to come from big cities. With the right technology and ecosystem, teachers from all corners of the country can contribute to delivering learning solutions that are relevant and impactful.

“This achievement—representing Indonesian teachers at the AI4Good Expo in Bangkok—I dedicate to every educator in Indonesia who continues to innovate,” said Mansur.
Through his presence in Bangkok, Mansur carried more than just the name of his school—he brought with him the spirit of Sidrap Regency and of Indonesia. He proved that educational transformation can begin inside a classroom, driven by a teacher who never stops learning, adapting, and daring to innovate.
