Microsoft’s global AI Tour series arrives in Bangkok today, bringing together business and public sector leaders, partners, and developers around a single agenda: accelerating Thailand’s Frontier Transformation by rethinking work with AI at the core. The event brings new partnerships, platform innovations, and real-world proof points – all designed to turn AI ambition into tangible business results.
AI Tour Bangkok delivered a full program of announcements and insights – from the latest AI innovations fresh from Microsoft’s Build 2026 developer conference to new strategic partnerships and real-world transformation stories from leading Thai organizations. Alongside the main stage, a series of hands-on sessions gave commercial teams, developers, and technical specialists the practical tools to put frontier AI to work immediately.
The event lands at a moment of remarkable momentum. Microsoft’s latest Global AI Diffusion Report shows the share of Thailand’s working-age population actively using AI climbing from 9.1% to 12.4% between the first half of 2025 and Q1 2026. This places Thailand second worldwide in AI growth momentum behind only South Korea, outpacing the global average.
The same momentum can be felt across Thailand’s workforce. The Work Trend Index 2026 study finds that 32% of surveyed Thai information workers are already classified as Frontier Professionals – operating at an advanced level of AI use – double the global figure at 16%. On leadership and strategic direction, 51% of Thai workers say their leadership is clearly and consistently aligned on AI – once again roughly doubling the global figure at 26%.

Ralph Haupter, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, Small, Medium Enterprises and Channel, Microsoft, said: “Across ASEAN, we’re seeing organizations move beyond AI experimentation to delivering measurable business impact. Thailand is a strong example of that—using AI to improve operations, enable better decisions, and create meaningful outcomes. Our focus is helping every organization turn AI potential into real business value.”
Cutting-edge innovations from Build 2026 conference make Bangkok debut
The announcements at AI Tour Bangkok arrived fresh off the back of Microsoft Build 2026 – the annual developer conference held on June 2-3. On this occasion, Thai audiences had their first look at the latest AI innovations to come out of Microsoft’s global platform:
- Intelligence that’s truly yours – The Microsoft Agent Platform, powered by Microsoft IQ, lets teams build agents in GitHub, deploy them to Microsoft Foundry, and access them across Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 – without trading off context, governance, or speed.
- The full stack, built your way – Developers can build with the tools, models, and workflows they choose across silicon, OS, developer tools, and cloud – starting with new Windows capabilities for a more flexible, agent-ready local development experience.
- What comes next – Agentic systems are moving from code to human progress, amplifying what scientists and researchers can achieve and opening new frontiers in science and computing on the same developer platform.
Frontier transformation takes shape across Thailand’s business community
Across industries, Thai organizations are moving beyond theory and into practice, and the partnerships and stories shared at AI Tour Bangkok — including a dedicated breakout session focused on the needs and growth ambitions of SMEs — put that progress on full display. Microsoft and AIS Business announced “AI Ready for SMEs” – a new strategic initiative combining Microsoft’s AI with AIS’s connectivity infrastructure and nationwide reach to deliver affordable, integrated AI solutions to businesses that have previously found adoption out of reach. The partnership brings together bundled SME packages of AIS connectivity and Microsoft 365 Copilot, a national AI skilling roadshow, and a program of vertical AI solution development – all aimed at building Thailand’s largest AI-enabled SME ecosystem.
Meanwhile, some of Thailand’s leading organizations are already showing what frontier transformation looks like in practice. Leading Thai organizations shared their transformation journeys at the event:
- LH Bank deployed GENIE AI on its LHB You mobile app, making it Thailand’s first voice-enabled banking assistant. Built on Azure OpenAI Service and Microsoft Speech Studio, the app enables customers to manage transactions and access financial guidance through natural voice and text interaction in Thai, English, and Mandarin, while operating in accordance with Responsible AI standards and data security management practices to enhance customer confidence in financial transaction and elevate the digital banking experience.
- AutoX, a vehicle title loan provider and SCBX Group member, now monitors 100% of contact center calls for regulatory compliance using Azure OpenAI Service (up from a 5-10% manual sampling rate), supports field loan officers with a 24/7 AI coaching agent on Azure AI Foundry, and automates document classification, signature verification, and vehicle collateral valuation using Azure AI Vision – capabilities co-developed with Microsoft’s Shanghai AI Innovation Lab.
- SCGC is on one of Thailand’s most ambitious enterprise AI journeys. Since 2024, SCGC has been building AI capability across 5,000+ employees in Thailand and Vietnam. Evolving from personal assistants to process transformation – with 2,000,000+ document pages processed at 100% accuracy, 4,000+ hours saved, 70%+ of key external data captured & analyzed by AI, cutting analysis time by more than 80%.
- GPSC, the innovative power and smart energy flagship of the PTT Group, is using Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, and Microsoft Fabric to tackle one of the industry’s most persistent challenges: identifying and addressing chronically underperforming equipment before failures occur. Its AI-powered system automatically monitors real-time operational data, maps fault patterns to 14224 ISO standards, and generates repair recommendations. We are optimizing resource efficiency, ensuring a highly reliable power supply, and taking a significant step forward in our decarbonization journey for a sustainable future.
Microsoft Elevate milestones and a new SCBX partnership deepen Thailand’s AI skills agenda
Also announced at AI Tour Bangkok, Microsoft and SCBX – Thailand’s leading financial technology group – are extending their collaboration in building AI capability. Delivered in partnership with Trainocate Thailand and co-powered by the Microsoft Organizational Skilling Program, the program has already trained more than 15,171 SCBX employees across two structured phases – from foundational AI literacy through to role-based application in Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Platform, and Azure AI. The program has achieved a learner satisfaction score of 4.5 out of 5, accelerating the shift from AI experimentation to everyday practice across the group.
The partnership deepens a skilling agenda that Microsoft has been driving across the country to help Thais adopt AI responsibly. In the past ten months alone, Microsoft Elevate has helped skill more than 780,000 learners – building practical, responsible AI capabilities for educators, nonprofit leaders, and workers and awarding over 350,000 credentials. In FY27, Microsoft will continue to advance AI skills development through Microsoft Elevate for Educators and Microsoft Elevate for Changemakers in Thailand. Together, these programs strengthen the education, workforce, and social impact systems that communities rely on—enabling more people to learn, work, and thrive in the AI economy.

“Thailand’s frontier transformation is being built on the collective commitment of people, businesses, and communities who see a place for AI at the heart of how they work,” said Dhanawat Suthumpun, Managing Director, Microsoft Thailand and Emerging Markets. “What we have seen today confirms that AI is a difference maker that drives major business outcomes, creates opportunities for entire countries and societies, and enables us to tackle challenges previously out of reach. Thailand is fully embracing this potential, and Microsoft is proud to be part of this ongoing journey.”
AI Tour Bangkok is part of a long-running commitment that extends to all of Thailand. In March, Microsoft announced a USD $1 billion investment in Thailand from 2026 to 2028 – spanning AI and cloud infrastructure, digital sovereignty, and workforce skilling – in a move that reflects strong belief in the country’s potential and a determination to accelerate its transformation at the frontier.
