Zurich, 17 March 2026 – A mobility club that explains AI? A game that turns commuters into explorers? ODYSSAI is a first of its kind. The innovative browser game invites people in Switzerland to rediscover their country in an entirely new way. On a virtual journey across the country, players explore one AI capability after another – playfully and in a practical, relatable way. Entertaining and engaging, the game shows how artificial intelligence can make mobility safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.
ODYSSAI is a joint initiative by the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) and Microsoft Switzerland.
“Digital safety starts with competence. People who understand AI can use it safely and independently.” Primo Amrein, AI Skills Director, Microsoft Switzerland.
The vision: Understanding AI and shaping mobility
“We don’t see AI as an abstract technology, but as a tool that empowers people in their decision-making,” says Primo Amrein. “With ODYSSAI, we wanted to show how AI can provide orientation in complex systems. Mobility is the perfect context for this: it makes trade-offs, dependencies, and impacts immediately tangible – and with that, also the responsible use of AI.”
Bernhard Bieri, Director Club at Touring Club Switzerland, adds: “With ODYSSAI, we co-developed a game that highlights both the opportunities of AI and the diversity of mobility, while showing how AI can, for example, support the choice of transport. This also reflects TCS values and our commitment to self-determined mobility.”
ODYSSAI – THE AI LEARNING GAME that makes you smarter
Together with the friendly AI ibex “Bocki,” players embark on a virtual journey of discovery across Switzerland. Step by step, they build key AI skills – from data analysis and image recognition to ethical questions around privacy and automation.
At the same time, witty dialogues and quizzes reveal surprising Swiss secrets. Who would have thought that the Matterhorn has African roots? Or that a simple pressure relief valve could become a tourist attraction? And then there is the story of the famous castle once defended by fighting goats…
A game that changes the way we think about mobility
Throughout the virtual journey, AI skills are closely linked to mobility. Players must set priorities: save time, money, or energy? The train is fast, but more expensive. The bicycle is sustainable, but slower. What matters most? Random obstacles create unexpected twists: Ended up on the wrong train? Flat tire on the bike? Time to improvise. Anyone who plays ODYSSAI quickly realizes that mobility is not just about getting from A to B – it is about quality of life.
Learning through play is the most effective way to build digital literacy
In between, quizzes and mini-games challenge players’ dexterity and logical thinking – from road puzzles to jump-and-run games. “The learning process in ODYSSAI is intuitive. This helps people understand how the underlying AI algorithms work and how systems learn,” says Primo Amrein. “Without any technical jargon – but with a clear understanding of how AI can support everyday life.”
The non-profit initiative sets new standards in digital education
ODYSSAI makes responsible use of AI technologies tangible: “AI is like a good co-driver: it can give advice, but we still keep our hands on the wheel,” says Amrein. Through light-hearted, humorous dialogues and quizzes, players learn that AI can recognize patterns, make predictions, and provide support – but the final decision always remains with humans. In this way, mobility becomes a moment of learning.
TCS as a partner for safe and sustainable mobility
The mobility club contributed valuable expertise for safe and responsible mobility. In ODYSSAI, players explore the typical differences between modes of transport in a playful way ‒ such as time, cost, or energy consumption ‒ and choose between bicycle, car, or public transport depending on the situation. In doing so, TCS highlights its commitment to diverse, situation-appropriate mobility, presented through a deliberately simplified model.
Technological innovation with social relevance
When players encounter traffic jams, construction sites, or speed limits, the benefit of AI becomes immediately apparent: AI helps identify risks and obstacles early. “ODYSSAI combines technological depth with real everyday value. Mobility is part of daily life. That makes the game real, relevant, and credible,” says Primo Amrein.
The browser game is available here and is free of charge for everyone, whether they are TCS members or not. The game is available in German, French and Italian.
