He went from mining to photography, and eventually to cloud engineering. He found his place in the tech industry, where he’s developing new skills with the help of AI. “Change is the only constant in my life”, says Mateusz Dobrowolski, Azure Cloud Architect.
Although he had always been interested in computers, it was the promise of stable employment, good pay, and early retirement that drew him in, and led him to become a miner.
“One day, I came home and told my wife that I had one year left before I completely burned out. When I suggested becoming a photographer, she said, ‘Go for it!’” says Mateusz.
The risky decision paid off, but only for a short time. The pandemic stopped the whole industry.

Mateusz Dobrowolski believes that „change is the only constant in life”. His early passion for computers, combined with a few life twists, led him to a role in IT as a service desk agent. There, he became fascinated by cloud computing and decided to build his career around it. The real breakthrough came with the rise of artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence can drive growth and reduce the time and effort required to search for, organize, and apply knowledge.
„Currently, I work with Azure cloud, and AI has been a real breakthrough for me. Creating documentation is much more enjoyable when you can use ready-made templates or adjust them to your needs. I also use GitHub Copilot at work, which makes coding and working with Azure resources much easier”, says Mateusz Dobrowolski.
Artificial intelligence can be used by anyone, not just programmers and cloud engineers.
„Being open to change and embracing new technologies is the key to growth in a rapidly evolving world. Today, our goal is to replace 'proficient in Microsoft Office’ on Polish CVs with 'AI fluency’. We believe this is a transformative technology, and we want every Pole to have the opportunity to benefit from it. Our aim is to give everyone the superpowers that come with it”, said Łukasz Foks, Director of the AI Skills Initiative at Microsoft.
