Competitors at the Microsoft-sponsored 2010 Imagine Cup World Finals experienced their first round of competition on Sunday, July 4. Competition continues through Thursday, when the winners of the competition will be announced.

The 2010 Imagine Cup World Finals kicked off Saturday, July 3, in Warsaw, Poland. Four-hundred students from 70 countries and regions are participating. More than 325,000 students entered in this year’s competition.

Many of the students competing in next week’s Imagine Cup World Finals in Warsaw, Poland, are bringing projects already being used in the real world. One team is helping rescuers repair earthquake damage in Haiti and another is measuring the way desert is encroaching on habitable land in Jordan.
