BANGKOK, 17 June 2015 – Microsoft (Thailand) Limited continues to transform Thai enterprises and reinvent productivity in a mobile-first, cloud-first world with TMB Bank PCL announcing Microsoft Office 365 as its choice of communications and collaboration tool. This announcement underscores TMB Bank’s transactional banking excellence focus in the digital age.

IDC predicted that in 2015, financial services institutions in Thailand would embrace cloud technology more progressively and willingly than their counterparts in the Asia/Pacific region. This will result in Thai financial services institutions benefiting from reduced operating costs while setting benchmarks and best practices for cloud adoption.[1]

Lorenzo Tassan-Bassut, Chief Operating Officer, TMB Bank PCL said, “At TMB, we recognize the benefits of modernizing our IT infrastructure and this is why we wanted to invest in an integrated set of productivity tools to support a more responsive work environment. In an organization that spans across 48 groups and 9,000 employees, we wanted to break down siloes, encourage greater collaboration to bring positive business impact, increase cost efficiency in our investments without compromising on the privacy and security of our information and customers’ online. Rather than investing in upgrading old solutions, we opted to make a major leap forward. Office 365 was the perfect fit for all of our productivity needs.

“Our employees are taking advantage of new capabilities such as the convenience of simultaneous document editing, and a clear sign of success is demonstrated in the shift of our email culture – where employees are increasingly using Lync, and soon to be Skype for Business, to communicate and collaborate anytime, anywhere.”

With Microsoft Office 365, TMB Bank empowers its employees with cloud-based productivity solutions that deliver consistent, familiar, and intuitive experiences, helping to drive faster and lower-cost implementations and high user adoption, that create better productivity and business results. Personal productivity is also on the rise, thanks to anytime, anywhere access to documents that are automatically synced between different devices. When employees have everything they need at their fingertips, the pace of business accelerates.

Microsoft is currently the only vendor to be positioned as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrants for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service, Application Platform as a Service, Cloud Storage Services and Server Virtualization. With world-class security and privacy standards, including ISO 27001 and European Union certifications, Office 365 has become the preferred productivity and collaboration cloud service for businesses of all sizes around the world. The past year alone saw 75 percent of Fortune 500 companies purchased Office 365 and financial services providers around the world who have Office 365 include American Capital and Metro Bank, just to name a few. Today, one in four Microsoft enterprise customers has Office 365. In Thailand, enterprises which have already adopted Office 365 include Capital Nomura, Nok Air, Thai Smile, Dusit International and Diethelm Travel among others.

Haresh Khoobchandani, Managing Director, Microsoft (Thailand) Limited said, “The digital age is transforming businesses and enterprises of all sizes, and this is felt even more in Thailand as the country gears towards the digital economy. Microsoft is unique in that we can help companies comprehensively capitalize on today’s top trends – that includes mobility, social, big data, the cloud, and security – with a connected, enterprise-grade solutions portfolio. And with Microsoft Office 365, cloud technology is transforming today’s leading enterprises such as TMB Bank to digital, while protecting assets in a mobile-first, cloud-first world, and ultimately empowering its employees to be responsive and make an impact from anywhere.

“In our partnership with TMB Bank, Microsoft Office 365 is enabling unparalleled productivity, transforming a mobile workforce into a connected team and can scale rapidly to meet the growing demands of its business.”

Skype for Business, one of the latest additions to Microsoft Office 365, will enable banking and financial services professionals the capability of seamless communications with customers and colleagues. From direct connections with customers to provide timely financial advice to reaching more customers worldwide through virtual, cost-effective communication channels, Skype for Business will enable financial advisors and professionals to create high-value connections, transform interactions, reinforce brand, and promote customer loyalty.

Microsoft Office 365 – with its familiar applications such as Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint, coupled with 1TB of storage on OneDrive for Business, 50GB mailbox for Exchange Online, enterprise social networking service Yammer, and Skype for Business – is a subscription-based, cloud-driven productivity suite that delivers a full range of features tailored to address productivity and collaboration needs on all scales.
