Bangkok, 30 September 2015 – Microsoft Thailand today held the “Modern Lifestyle by Office 365: Working Not Working” event at Wicked Café, Siam Square One to introduce new working trends in a vastly transformed world as well as cutting-edge technologies from Microsoft that fulfill the demands of today’s mobility-focused, fast-paced lifestyles. The event highlighted handy tips on how to simplify and optimize your working life, straight from modern workers LoukGolf – Kanatip Soonthornrak, owner and director of Angkriz English Academy as well as host of LoukGolf’s English Room, and Mint – Monthon Kasantikul, the world traveler and writer behind the I Roam Alone – The Solo Female Travel Blog.
“Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and organization in the planet to achieve more by building best-in-class platforms and productivity services for mobile-first, cloud first world. We recently announced the free upgrade to Windows 10 in late July, the most secure Windows platform that is designed to work across devices with the same experience – faster, more personal and productive consumers,” said Ekaraj Panjavinin, Consumer Channel Group Lead, Microsoft (Thailand) Limited.
“Today’s digital world has changed virtually every facet of life at work and at home. A recent survey showed that 30-40% of the workers in the United States are contingent[1]. The trend is expected to increase further in the future, and the same can be said for Thailand with more people working independently and on-the-go. We have worked ceaselessly to create technologies that fulfill modern productivity needs in a world where work is no longer confined to physical office spaces. These advancements allow us to access, create, and share information through various devices anywhere, anytime. Microsoft’s service platforms and applications – such as Windows 10 and Office 365 – empower us all to do more and achieve more in simpler ways than before in a mobile-first, cloud-first world,” added Ekaraj.
Earlier on September 23, Microsoft released Office 2016 – the latest application suite featured in Office 365, the leading subscription-based cloud service for productivity and collaboration. With Office 2016, the company is focusing on maximizing efficiency in team-based working situations.
“The Microsoft Office suite is the most popular application suite in the world with over 1.2 billion users. Office 365, now with the new Office 2016 apps, is the smartest and most secured Office yet. We expect this latest edition of the cloud-powered Office 365 to help users achieve unprecedented levels of agility and productivity at work to match today’s digital world,” added Panjaporn Vittayalerdpun, Application and Service Marketing Business Group Lead, Microsoft (Thailand) Limited.

LoukGolf – Kanatip Soonthornrak, English teacher, host of LoukGolf’s English Room, and owner and director of Angkrit English Academy, said, “I have been familiar with Microsoft software since my childhood years. My first computer ran on Windows, and today I am using OneNote regularly for my English classes. I have to jot down words while I am teaching, and OneNote is like a universal notepad that I can access anywhere. I like to develop new ideas for my classes, and OneNote is always there for me to record new ideas and add information for class materials. Whenever I am done with my notes, I can easily use them for my classes right after. New features in applications like Word and PowerPoint also enable me save a lot of time in preparing class materials or presentations. Office 2016’s speed also impresses me a lot, especially as each day is a race against time for me, and this means I need apps that allow me to work quickly and still achieve great results.”
Mint – Monthon Kasantikul, traveler, writer, and creator of I Roam Alone blog, added, “To me, ever since I was a student, the most familiar Microsoft applications would be Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. I regularly write about my travels and share the copy with my editor. With Office 2016, now I can use features like co-authoring to work on a document in real-time with others. For example, an editor in Thailand can work on my copy as I am writing it up overseas. This changes everything at work for me. When I plan my trips, I use OneNote as my multimedia notepad, and I can add images or files right into the note. I am heading to Jordan for my next trip, and as always, OneNote is my tool of choice to plan my trip. Another service I love is OneDrive, which lets me store 1TB of data or pictures online. On every trip, I take countless photos that sometimes my smartphone is not able to fully support them. Uploading these photos to OneDrive is an excellent and secure way to manage my photos. I am also very impressed by Smart Lookup, which pulls data from websites – such as images – right into a Word file quickly to let me do more with less time.”
The new Office 2016 suite is available now in 40 languages – including Thai – and supports Windows 7 or newer operating systems. Office 365 subscribers can download and install Office 2016 today, while new users can also purchase non-subscription copies of Office 2016 for one Windows PC or Mac today.
