BANGKOK, 1 December 2015 – In today’s mobile-first, cloud-first world, work and personal lives are increasingly intersecting. Businesses can no longer afford to run in traditional ways anymore. They are transforming in the digital economy era and technology plays a key role in this transformation. Enterprises are adopting the latest technology to increase their productivity, gain competitive advantages, respond to rapid changes, and ultimately succeed in the business world.

Together with partners, Microsoft Thailand most recently held the Solutions Summit 2015 to showcase the breadth of its technology and solutions as well as to reinforce its leadership in technology. Themed ‘Empowering the Enterprise in the Digital Age’, the Solutions Summit 2015 took place at the Centara Grand Hotel, Central World.

Hosted successfully for three consecutive years, Solutions Summit was well-attended by more than 900 executives this year. The audience comprised business decision-makers and executives from 500 mid to large-sized enterprises and government agencies, as well as 40 Microsoft partners.

A recent Microsoft survey with 300 business executives in the Asia Pacific region found that the top three technologies that will be critical for businesses are: 1) Cloud; 2) Mobility; and 3) Big Data. The executives polled also agreed that Cloud is a significant factor for business planning.

Orapong Thien-Ngern, General Manager, Microsoft Thailand, said, “The way we work and the way businesses are conducted today are transforming in a mobile-first, cloud-first era. Microsoft is also transforming and we continuously create innovations to empower every person and every organization in Thailand to achieve more. This vision is supported through our three interconnected bold ambitions of reinventing productivity and business processes, building the intelligent cloud platform and creating more personal computing.

“This year, Microsoft’s leadership in technology is demonstrated in the launch of Windows 10, the most secure Windows Microsoft has ever released. This was followed by the launch of Office 2016, the latest additions to Office 365, designed for modern working, collaboration and teamwork; and the launch of Surface Pro 4, the thinnest, lightest and most powerful tablet that can replace your laptop. Microsoft will also be launching the Lumia 950 smartphone, equipped with Windows 10 for Mobile, in the near future.”

Solutions Summit 2015 not only showcased Microsoft’s breadth of innovation but is also an effective platform that connects enterprises and partners to drive mutual business growth. For every $1 Microsoft earns in Thailand, partners can generate $12 or more for themselves.

Orapong added that Microsoft is widely recognized and relied upon by leading organizations around the world. For example, Windows 10 offers one experience across the broadest range of devices. The Windows Hello feature provides users with instant, easy to use and more secure access to their Windows 10 devices. The privacy and security capabilities in Microsoft’s technologies and solutions are recognized even by the Chinese government. Recently Gartner has positioned Microsoft as a Leader, for the third year in a row, in the Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems for its SQL Server. Similarly, Gartner has also recognized Microsoft as a Leader in the 2015 Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workplace, for the seventh year in a row, for Yammer. With world-class security and privacy standards, including ISO 27001 and European Union certifications, 80 percent of the Fortune 500 are on the Microsoft Cloud.

Kristpoj Juttamalakul, Head of IT Operations, TMB Bank PCL, said, “At TMB Bank, we recognize the benefits of modernizing our IT infrastructure and this is why we wanted to invest in an integrated set of productivity tools to support a more responsive work environment. Rather than investing in upgrading old solutions, we opted to make a major leap forward. Office 365 was the perfect fit for all of our productivity needs. To deploy the solution, we worked with Metro Systems Corporation, one of Microsoft’s reliable partners.”

Solutions Summit 2015 also hosted a series of seminars by Microsoft’s partners such as:

  • Increase Productivity with Security in Mobile Devices by MVerge Co., Ltd.
  • The Trends of Digital Revolution with the Internet of Things by Dimension Data Thailand Ltd.
  • The Trends of Security Management and Cyber Security in 2016 by Dell Corporation (Thailand) Co. Ltd.

The Summit also featured an exclusive speaking session by Taweelap Suwattanapunkul, a third-year student from the Faculty of Mass Communication, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, who spoke about his exhilarating experience at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship where he won first place in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013.
