In a groundbreaking initiative to bolster Thailand’s digital defenses, the National Cyber Security Agency of Thailand (NCSA) and Microsoft Thailand are elevating their partnership to new heights, leveraging cutting-edge AI technology to revolutionize Thailand’s cybersecurity landscape and address evolving digital threats. This collaboration prioritizes two key areas: strengthening Thailand’s cybersecurity standards and empowering both cybersecurity professionals and the general public with the skills to navigate a secure digital landscape.
As cyberattacks grow increasingly sophisticated and can have a real impact on a country’s economy, proactive defense is crucial worldwide. In Thailand, Microsoft has been collaborating with NCSA to leverage expertise in threat intelligence and cybersecurity solutions, extending its reach beyond the public sector. The NCSA’s role as a regulator, policy developer, and advisor to both private and state enterprises in the Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) makes this collaboration particularly impactful, strengthening Thailand’s overall cybersecurity resilience. This ongoing partnership reflects Microsoft’s “Secure Future Initiative,” which prioritizes security above all else.
“The complexity of modern cyberattacks demands innovative solutions and a workforce with the skills to use them. We are confident that our collaboration with Microsoft, a global leader in AI and cybersecurity technologies, will equip Thailand with advanced technologies, crucial knowledge, and essential training programs. This will be an important step in strengthening our defenses and creating a more secure digital environment for all Thais,” said AVM Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary General at NCSA.
Mike Yeh, Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Microsoft Asia stated: “In recent months, I’ve had a number of conversations with national cybersecurity agencies across Asia – which make clear that we must be more intentional about leveraging hyperscale cloud and its AI-powered cybersecurity to strengthen cyber defenses – both to tackle the massive increase in cyber attacks and a persistent and growing cybersecurity talent shortage. At Microsoft, we believe security is everyone’s responsibility. It’s fundamental to our mission of empowering every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. That’s why we are committed to collaborating with government agencies like NCSA to build a safer and more resilient digital future for nations like Thailand. The NCSA’s work with over 100 companies in the CII sector is vital. By equipping IT professionals within these companies with AI and cybersecurity readiness, together with modernization of cybersecurity regulatory framework, we can collectively strengthen Thailand’s digital foundation.”
NCSA, led by AVM Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary General (center), collaborates with Microsoft Thailand, represented by Mike Yeh, Regional Vice President of Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (third from right), and Supahrat Juramongkol, AI National Skills Director (far right), to advance AI-powered cybersecurity in Thailand.
“Microsoft Philanthropies is committed to demonstrating the positive impact of AI on communities around the world, and we recognize that broad access to technology is one of the fundamental human rights of the 21st century. This collaboration with NCSA is a powerful example of how we can work together to accelerate AI skills for cybersecurity professionals, ensuring that organizations can enhance protection with AI, defend against threats, securing data and managing risks and privacy,” said
Superhot Juramongkol, AI National Skills Director for Microsoft Thailand added.
This year, the collaboration will offer a specialized cybersecurity training program to 300 participants, including NCSA personnel and representatives from private companies in Thailand’s CII network. Featuring a robust curriculum refined over several years, the program will provide a comprehensive learning experience through engaging, instructor-led sessions. The curriculum includes both fundamental cybersecurity modules and a more advanced security analysis module.
To further democratize access to cybersecurity knowledge, Microsoft is partnering with NCSA to deliver free online courses through the “AI National Skills Thailand” initiative. Designed to equip 10,000 individuals with AI skills and foundational cybersecurity skills, these courses offer flexible schedules and are available online at https://www.thnca.or.th.
This collaboration harnesses the combined expertise of NCSA, Thailand’s national cybersecurity authority, and Microsoft’s leadership in AI and skilling. By empowering users of all levels with the knowledge and tools to navigate a secure digital environment – including innovative solutions like Microsoft Copilot for Security, an AI-powered companion for cybersecurity professionals – the initiative builds a safer and more resilient digital future for Thailand.
