Microsoft Switzerland Appoints Moritz Oberli as General Manager Public Sector

Moritz Oberli will lead Microsoft Switzerland’s Public Sector business, bringing over 25 years of experience in public sector consulting and digital transformation. 

ZURICH, Switzerland — May 30th, 2024 – Microsoft Switzerland today announced that Moritz Oberli will join the company as the new General Manager Public Sector, effective from June 1st.  Moritz Oberli will succeed Christian Widmer, who is departing to explore new opportunities outside the company. Oberli will directly report to Catrin Hinkel, CEO of Microsoft Switzerland, and will be a member of the Swiss Leadership Team.

With over 25 years of experience in public sector consulting, Oberli has a distinguished track record in leading digital transformation initiatives. He transitions to Microsoft from EY, where his roles included Partner, Member of the Markets Board, and Sector Leader for Infrastructure, encompassing the Public Sector. His international expertise is further enriched by tenures in Seattle, USA, and Australia, where he gained substantial global insights and experience.

Before joining EY, Oberli was the Public Industry Leader for a large auditing and consulting firm in Switzerland and was also a member of the respective European Public Leadership team. His professional journey began in audit, where he specialized in large publicly traded companies, including those regulated by US SEC/PCAOB standards.

Oberli earned a BA from the University of Applied Sciences in Bern and is a certified Swiss CPA. He has enhanced his leadership skills through executive training at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He is also actively involved in several business and thought leadership organizations, including the British Swiss Chamber of Commerce, American Swiss Chamber of Commerce, and the Swiss Society for Administrative Sciences.
