Microsoft Office 2010 now available for Australian consumers

More than nine million beta usersworld-wide help Microsoft deliver the best experience for being productive across the PC, phone and browser.

Today, Microsoft Corp. announced the worldwide availability of Microsoft Office 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010. Consumers can now purchase Office 2010 at more than 35,000 retail stores across the globe, including Australian retailers Dick Smith Electronics, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi and Office Works. Office 2010 is also available direct from Microsoft at office.com and microsoftstore.com.au.

More than 100 million PCs will ship pre-loadedwith Office 2010 within the next year from leading PC makers including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba. Pre-loaded Office 2010 can be activated easily with the purchase of a Product Key Card at retail. Product Key Cards will be available for each of the three versions of Office 2010, including Office Home and Student 2010, Office Home and Business 2010, or Office Professional 2010.

Product Key Cards make installation fast and easy because no DVD is required. For those who want to download Office 2010 direct from Office.com for an existing PC, the new Click-to-Run technology reduces the time required to download Office2010, making installation faster and easier.

To mark the launch, Microsoft Australia is holding the first ever ‘Office Mayor Meetup’ at Martin Place in Sydney today from 12:10 – 1:10pm. This event invites Foursquare social networkers who have achieved ‘Mayor’ status of their office, business or home to check-in at the Office Mayor Meetup 2010 Foursquare location. The first 110 Foursquare mayors to arrive, check-in and leave an online tip will have the chance to win a copy of Office Home and Business 2010.

From a survey of Office 2010 beta users, Microsoft found 75 percent say they plan to buy Office 2010 within six months. The Office 2010 beta program had over nine million downloads, more than six times the size of the Office 2007 beta – indicating strong consumer interest in Office 2010.
