Pro-Pac Packaging wraps up innovation with Microsoft
Dynamics 365, LinkedIn and Microsoft 365 provide modern digital environment to enhance staff and customer experience
ASX-listed international packaging business Pro-Pac Packaging Group (PPG) is building a Microsoft cloud based digital environment designed to grow and develop with the business and drive exceptional staff and customer experiences.
Leveraging Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Microsoft Azure, and other Microsoft solutions such as LinkedIn, PPG is advancing its supply chain automation, enhancing customer experience, elevating its digital security framework and engaging with its workforce across a modern, hybrid workplace.
The diversity of PPG’s product range and customer base globally, requires supply chain transparency, increased automation and data access to be an integral part of the PPG customer experience.
PPG will use Microsoft Dynamics 365, as the foundational platform to support technology modernisation and its business transformation agenda. Implementing Finance, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Human Resources, Sales, Customer Service, Marketing and Power Platform over the next five years, as well as LinkedIn Talent Insights, Talent Hub, LinkedIn Learning and Glint will create a connected cloud business application platform for PPG with intelligent automation and enhanced data accessibility.
CEO Tim Welsh said “PPG’s focus is on resiliency, and flexibility in an ever-changing environment.
With a philosophy of people and safety first, PPG is also embedding a series of LinkedIn services to promote wellbeing, to encourage lifelong learning and to foster innovation and creativity across the workforce. The modernisation program also provides PPG with insights into employee sentiment, which underpins its commitment to being the employer of choice in the industry.
Steven Worrall, Managing Director, Microsoft Australia; ”This is a stellar example of a business that recognises that successful transformation needs a people first approach.
A key attraction for PPG was the continuous updates to the Microsoft cloud platform, which will allow it to continue to evolve and modernise its business processes, as well as the flexibility and extensibility offered by the Power Platform to build apps and automate processes. This allows it to optimise its response to different customer needs without having to change the core digital platform.
This capability is already being embraced across the organisation with Welsh himself building Power Automate flows, leading PPG’s innovation push from the top.
Welsh also noted that the cloud foundations allow PPG to streamline the integration of any new businesses that it merges with or acquires, reducing the time to value of M&A activity.
PPG took the decision to accelerate its digital transformation initiative in early 2020 when the pandemic took hold and 350 of its 900 employees transitioned to remote working. This is expected to continue as PPG evolves into a fully hybrid workplace melding on site and remote operations.
Innovation is a key driver for the business, as it develops strategies and operational approaches that reinforce its commitment to sustainability.
PPG’s future digital plans include introducing eCommerce capabilities using Dynamics 365, as well as implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) based solutions to further automate operations and accelerate innovation opportunities.
