This year Microsoft marks 20 years of contribution to Kazakhstani society. During last two decades the company, together with the partner ecosystem, played significant role in country’s technology sector by providing innovative solutions and services, supporting government and people in digital innovations, technology skilling agenda and national cloud strategy to strengthen Kazakhstan’s aspiration for regional leadership.

Microsoft is working to increase equitable access to technology, skills, and data to deliver more opportunities for Kazakhstan citizens. In the early years, programs such as the Summer School for Teachers and Microsoft tutorials enabled 250 teachers and more than 200.000 students to learn how to integrate new technologies into education. In the last ten years more than 100.000 teachers participated in Innovative Educator program, and Microsoft Showcase School with the purpose to create student-centered, technology-powered inclusive experiences.
Today, withing Microsoft and LinkedIn Skills for Job program every person can have free access to on-line courses for most in-demand jobs for the digital economy, and more than 19.000 Kazah people used this opportunity so far.
With Cloud technology – Azure, BizApps and PowerPlatform – Kazakhstan speeds up its development by boosting innovation in all sectors, from traditional industry to the latest biotech and startup activities. KazMunayGas, Kazzinc, and KazMinerals have implemented Microsoft services to provide equal and secure access to information for employees working on-site and remotely. Air Astana increased productivity and efficiency with technological solutions, reducing report generation time and providing more resources for analytics and forecasting. Kazteleport implemented cloud solutions in its data centers to increase efficiency and cybersecurity. Microsoft’s innovative tools have also helped Shell and BP to calculate and understand their environmental impact and offer practical solutions to lower carbon footprints.
Kazakhstani startups, like Uniqa, drive innovation and progress across every part of the economy by solving problems or unlocking new ways of working. Today, programs like Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub and ISV Success program, Imagine Cup hackathons are helping them along this journey.
