For the study, the company examined the usage of Copilot for Microsoft 365 as a representative example of AI technology.

It is marketed as ‘your everyday AI companion’ and is available on various Microsoft platforms, including Windows, Edge, Office apps, and Bing. Copilot is a conversational chat interface that lets you search for specific information, generate text such as emails and summaries, and create images based on text prompts you write.
Copilot’s capabilities were assessed across various tasks commonly performed in the workplace, showcasing its potential to save significant time and enhance productivity. For example, Copilot streamlines the process of creating comprehensive meeting notes by automatically summarizing discussions, action items, and key points. With tool’s assistance, users can seamlessly convert written content from Word documents into visually appealing PowerPoint presentations, creating client offers by extracting relevant information stored in SharePoint documents, and suggest tailored content based on user prompt.
A total of 1,300 users from diverse industries were surveyed to assess the impact of AI on productivity and job satisfaction. Subsequent analysis identified key factors shaping these outcomes.

Thus, the study illustrates the progressive benefits experienced by Copilot users over a business quarter. Within 6, 10, and over 10 weeks, 67%, 70%, and 75% of users report increased productivity; 45%, 49%, and 57% indicate enhanced job satisfaction; 23%, 27%, and 34% note improved work-life balance; and 18%, 22%, and 37% report a reduction in meeting attendance.
