Meetul Patel, Chief Operating Officer, Microsoft India, said, “Hybrid offerings are really important as they allow people to carry their work online or offline depending on their requirements. Our hybrid cloud infrastructure helps businesses with legacy infrastructure in software and hardware to migrate to cloud on their own terms.”

Microsoft Teams updated, gets an app store to counter slack

Microsoft has announced new updates to its chat and productivity program, Teams. Microsoft called the update the biggest one since Teams’ launch in March. With the newer updates, users can leverage apps in various new ways and command apps to take quick actions directly from the command box. One of the new features introduced is an app store—an one-stop shop for searching and discovering apps that integrate with Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft showcases automatic tool to tackle security threats on project platform

Microsoft is showcasing an automatic tool to help engineers tackle security threats when collaborating on software development in GitHub, a platform to discover, fork, and contribute to projects. “To help protect our customers, Microsoft Azure (cloud computing platform) runs Credential Scanner, also known as CredScan, which monitors GitHub and checks for specific Azure tenant secrets such as Azure subscription management certificates and Azure SQL (Structured Query Language) connection strings,” Brijesh Desai, principal program manager lead at Microsoft, wrote in a blog post.

Microsoft acquires cloud gaming start-up PlayFab

Microsoft announced that it has acquired PlayFab, a start-up with cloud-based tools for game developers. PlayFab’s portfolio of services includes content management, documentation, forums and A/B testing. “Incorporating PlayFab’s experience, growing network of game developers and powerful gaming-as-a-service platform into our product offering is an important step forward for gaming at Microsoft,” Kareem Choudhry, corporate vice president of gaming at Microsoft, wrote in a blog post.

Microsoft India unveils Xbox One X at Rs 44,990

Microsoft has announced the launch of Xbox One X for the Indian market. Priced at Rs 44,990, the gaming console will be available at Microsoft India stores and over 100 gaming specialty stores in offline retail; and Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Landmark in online retail.
