Russia’s biggest search engine Yandex said Microsoft would offer it as the default homepage and search tool for Internet browsers across its Windows 10 platform in Russia and several other countries.

Microsoft just released a new build of Windows 10 to consumer testers in the Fast ring. Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10565 brings a number of features that are expected to arrive in next month’s anticipated Threshold 2 update. The biggest feature of the release is a unified messaging app for Windows 10 that integrates Skype messaging, calling and video.The app also brings message notifications to the Action Center, and to help you multitask, you can even quickly respond to messages using Quick Reply.

Microsoft will set the tone for when users of Windows 10 Mobile handsets will receive the latest updates. The software giant said it’s working with mobile carriers to test software updates for its new Windows 10 Mobile operating system and will use their feedback, according to a statement sent to CNET. But the company “will decide when to send the updates out based on input from mobile operators and Windows Insiders.”

Two weeks after making Azure available locally in its three Indian datacentres, Microsoft has now announced locally hosted Office 365 services in India. “With the launch of our three new datacentres in India, Office 365 becomes the first global commercial cloud service to provide productivity and collaboration services from within India,” Rajesh Jha, Corporate Vice President for the Office 365 team, said. With the local data centres, Microsoft will be able to offer a locally hosted model which will address the data privacy for compliant and regulated industries such as BFSI and the government.

Microsoft launched Lumia 640XL, a dual SIM 4G smart mobile that comes with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, in Hyderabad. Lumia 640 XL is priced at Rs.17,399 and can be upgraded to Windows 10 in near future. Speaking at the launch, Director–Sales (South) of Microsoft Mobile Devices T.S. Sridhar counted the 13 MP camera, 5.7 inches HD display and integrated Microsoft services among the feature of the smart phone. It runs on 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and equipped with 3000 mAh battery as well as front-facing camera for Skype video calling. A release said the new phone comes bundled with an offer from Airtel. Lumia 640 XL LTE consumers on Airtel 4G will be able to double their data for free and the offer is available till December 31.

Microsoft has announced partnership with Alteryx, provider of a platform for data blending and analytics for its Power BI offering. Alteryx offers a simple, drag-and-drop workflow and can accommodate many types of data. Its platform is designed to cleanse, transform and enrich data and then perform advanced predictive, statistical and spatial analytics. Now, thanks to the new partnership, users of the Alteryx Analytics 10.0 platform can output their data to Power BI for visualization and further analysis by a wide range of business users.
