Microsoft had revealed its next generation innovation – HoloLens, an augmented reality headset that blends your digital life with the real world. A video released by Microsoft shows that this wearable headgear uses a pair of see-through HD lenses and is completely untethered – it needs no external markers, cameras, wires or a connection to a phone or PC to operate. HoloLens utilises spacial sound, delivering audible feedback from all directions in reference to the wearer – even from behind.

At its Convergence 2015 event in Atlanta, Microsoft has launched IT and developer previews of Office 2016 for Windows, as well as Skype for Business technical preview. Microsoft has emphasized that this is an early build and “doesn’t yet contain all the features we’re planning to ship in the final product”.

iBall has launched two Windows-based 2-in-1 tablets – iBall Slide WQ149i and WQ149R, priced at R 18,499 (Wi-Fi version) and 19,999 (3G version), respectively. Both WQ149R and WQ149i are built with a 10.1-inch IPS capacitive multi-touch display and 1.83 GHz for Intel Atom processors. The 10.1-inch tablet comes packed with free a Microsoft Office 365 license and 1 TB OneDrive cloud storage for a year.

Prism Cybersoft, a provider of software solutions to financial intermediaries has launched a cloud-based personal investment and accounting software, Abacus. It harnesses the power of Microsoft Azure, an open, flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing platform, consumers’ data is stored in encrypted form in Microsoft’s secure data centres. Meetul Patel, General Manager, SMSP, Microsoft India, said, “Abacus is yet another example of our commitment to help partners bring the value of cloud to their customers.”

The GenNext Innovation Hub announced the graduation of 11 technology startups from its accelerator program. The GenNext Innovation Hub is a joint initiative of two leading companies, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Microsoft Ventures. Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft India, said, “In line with our commitment to India’s accelerated growth, we are committed to supporting the development of this ecosystem through Microsoft Ventures and its partners. We are delighted to see the strides made by this batch of startups.”

Microsoft’s Windows will take the market share from Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android in the coming years. According to research released by IDC, by 2019, Windows will have 14.1 percent market share, and the share of Android and iOS will gradually fall. Tablet shipments in 2019 will total 269.4 million. The gradual growth of Windows may start with Windows 10, which will reach tablets later this year, said Jean Philippe Bouchard, Research Director for tablets at IDC.

Bioware’s award-winning RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition has been available since November 2014 but Microsoft is offering a free trial of the game to Xbox Live Gold subscribers on the Xbox One. The trial will be available for free till March 16th.

One of the best things that the Xbox One brought to the table was the ability to record and save your gameplay. On Xbox One, this feature is called Games DVR, and now it will also be embedded and integrated into Windows 10 on an OS level.
