Microsoft had revealed its next generation innovation – HoloLens, an augmented reality headset that blends your digital life with the real world. A video released by Microsoft shows that this wearable headgear uses a pair of see-through HD lenses and is completely untethered – it needs no external markers, cameras, wires or a connection to a phone or PC to operate. HoloLens utilises spacial sound, delivering audible feedback from all directions in reference to the wearer – even from behind.

iBall has launched two Windows-based 2-in-1 tablets – iBall Slide WQ149i and WQ149R, priced at R 18,499 (Wi-Fi version) and 19,999 (3G version), respectively. Both WQ149R and WQ149i are built with a 10.1-inch IPS capacitive multi-touch display and 1.83 GHz for Intel Atom processors. The 10.1-inch tablet comes packed with free a Microsoft Office 365 license and 1 TB OneDrive cloud storage for a year.

CIO: Windows expected to gradually grab tablet market share from iOS and Android

Microsoft’s Windows will take the market share from Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android in the coming years. According to research released by IDC, by 2019, Windows will have 14.1 percent market share, and the share of Android and iOS will gradually fall. Tablet shipments in 2019 will total 269.4 million. The gradual growth of Windows may start with Windows 10, which will reach tablets later this year, said Jean Philippe Bouchard, Research Director for tablets at IDC.
