With the help of Microsoft tools, the time for new partners to access the company’s environment has decreased from sixty days to two hours.

São Paulo, Brazil – As part of its digital journey, Cielo is migrating workstations to the cloud and is already benefiting from optimizing the time for new suppliers to access the company’s environment. Previously, it took about 60 days for the area to enable new partners to operate in the company’s environment. With the adoption of the Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop platform, the remote grant now takes up to two hours, requiring only that the partner have a device with internet access, whether it is a phone, a tablet or a personal computer.

«Previously, it was necessary to purchase and send the equipment to the supplier via courier, install all the programs and validate the VPN, which took around 60 days to get everything ready for use, a very long deadline and with high costs for the company,» says Renan Lira, Cielo Infrastructure Specialist.

The company uses Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) integrated with Service Now to obtain an approval flow for both the automated provisioning of the environment for the user and the availability of software used individually, in a more agile way. In addition to the agility and optimization of processes, Cielo benefits from the security of Microsoft Azure, that guarantees an environment isolated from its local infrastructure and protected against viruses and other threats, such as password attacks and data leaks, also reinforcing this security by using the Microsoft AzureAD multifactor authentication system (MFA) integrated.

«In addition to the level of security and control we gain by choosing AVD as a Virtual Desktop infrastructure, we have a substantial improvement in delivery time since resources can be increased or decreased as needed. Our choice, in addition to bringing financial efficiency and a quick response to new computing demands, avoids the need to conduct hardware purchasing and delivery processes that can take months,» says Leonardo Gomes, Coordinator of Endpoint, Office 365 and AVD at Cielo.

Cost reduction with migration

With the migration of some environments to the cloud, Cielo is also saving on the maintenance of physical datacenters, since costs with on premises environments are high and not vary flexible. With a cloud system, the company can increase or decrease its storage capacity according to the needs of its systems, and the upgrade is done quickly. The costs of this operation are managed by the FinOps team, ensuring that the quota is used with total transparency and visibility of all teams involved. According to the Cielo specialist, currently, about a thousand suppliers can use AVD, but the company’s goal is to reach 5,000 by 2023.

«Cost optimization is essential for companies to be able to maintain their businesses in a challenging economic context, and in the case of Cielo, in addition to this benefit, the company has a significant reduction in time burden in its operations and security layers that are native to the cloud and support the cybersecurity journey of businesses,» says Júlio Gomes, vice president of Financial Services at Microsoft Brazil.
