Celebrating learning without borders

How do you travel more than two million miles in 48 hours? And come face-to-face with live penguins, ancient precious objects and be led by some of the world’s smartest guides? Simple. Join a Microsoft Skype-a-Thon.

Skype has transformed education. Empowered with this and other new tools, teachers and students have been connected to limitless knowledge and ideas from around the world.

Last year Microsoft organised the first ever Skype-a-Thon, a 48 hour celebration of learning without borders. Thousands of classes took part, visiting museums and aquariums, heard guest lectures from scientists and even came face-to-face with penguins in Antarctica – all via Skype.

For this year, we’re going even bigger. On 29-30 November, we’re joining teachers, classes, and experts in travelling three million miles over Skype. There will be field trips, guest lectures, and classrooms celebrating together in Europe and around the world!

Classes will also take part in international rounds of the Mystery Skype game. To win, they must ask geography questions to figure out which country the other class is from.

Good luck classes, teachers, and experts. We can’t wait to see what exciting adventures you’ll go on this year.
