Meet the nanny helping Dutch DJs do more

What does a typical nanny do? A quick Bing search will show you that there is a long list of tasks most nannies do on any given day of the week: laundry, house work, cleaning, cooking, and of course taking care of children. Anywhere you go in the world chances are you’ll find all kinds of nannies, but the only place you’ll find The Media Nanny is in Amsterdam. Or maybe in the newly opened office in London, or in Ibiza, or maybe even at the Untold festival in Romania.

At this point, you’re probably thinking ‘what is a media nanny?’. Don’t worry you aren’t alone. The Media Nanny, also known by her real name José Woldring, is the founder and CEO of the Amsterdam based PR-agency that goes by the same name, The Media Nanny. The agency specializes in the entertainment industry, representing artists, labels, festivals, athletes and brands. She now manages more than 15 employees and is responsible for a client list that includes world famous DJs such as Martin Garrix, David Guetta, or Oliver Heldens. In addition to artists like these, the agency also manages public relations for the Dutch IT company, Levi9, brands like the famous open-air club and hotel Ushuaia in Ibiza, and the annual electronic festival in Romania, Untold Festival.

Striving to be the best

Running an industry-leading company that she started from the ground up isn’t the only thing that drives José to do more. When she isn’t busy at work being The Media Nanny, you can find her spending time with her family or competing as a professional show jumper. From growing her business more by opening new offices, hiring new talent, or signing another world-famous artist to competing on horseback, there is always more to be done.  When it came to finding a versatile laptop that fits all her needs while also matching her style and personality it was clear the Surface Laptop was the only choice.

Working on the go

When your client list includes major festivals and some of the biggest EDM (electronic dance music) crossover artists in the world, it’s easy to forget what the typical 9-to-5 day is like at times. Having your work at your fingertips wherever you go is essential – whether it’s team meetings in the office, checking email at the airport, or getting an artist ready for an interview before they play at a festival.

”My laptop is a big part of my life, I always have it with me wherever I go. It allows me to work at any time and any place.”

“José loves to push herself to achieve her full potential, and does so in her own style. She is professional and demanding but remains herself. She is often on the road and thus, her laptop is very important to her. The light-weighted and slim Surface Laptop suits her perfectly.” Said Paul Honout, Marketing Manager for Surface in the Netherlands.

So far the collaboration with Surface has been nothing but roses for José. Here is what she had to say about her work and personal life: “My laptop is a big part of my life, I always have it with me wherever I go. It allows me to work at any time and any place. The Surface Laptop is just the perfect laptop for me. It looks amazing, is slim, has a touchscreen and many other functionalities that allow me to work more efficiently. I am so happy the Surface team approached me for this collaboration. All in all, a very good match!”

Collaboration with architect Ben van Berkel and designer Sander Pappot

The collaboration with José is not the first one to take place in the Netherlands. When the Surface Book was launched in April, a collaboration was initiated with Ben van Berkel, the architect of the Erasmus bridge and CEO of UNStudio. To market the Surface Studio, Sander Pappot was chosen to collaborate with. Sander is a professional graphic designer who started out as a graffiti artist but later developed into a professional that creates beautiful pieces for festivals, among others.
