As AI becomes a new foundation for economic growth and national competitiveness, talent readiness is critical to turning the potential of today’s technology into real-world value. To ensure talent development aligns with the rapid advancement of AI, Microsoft Elevate serves as an AI skilling initiative that empowers people to drive human-centered innovation. With the spirit of “Bergerak, hadirkan dampak,” this initiative has trained more than 2.4 million people across Indonesia with AI skills and issued more than 1.5 million credentials over the past two years.

The impact extends even further, reaching more than 2.5 million beneficiaries through the skills and innovations that participants have shared across their communities and surrounding environments. This growing impact has been made possible through cross-sector collaboration. In education, Microsoft Elevate is helping to improve the quality of learning and encouraging the use of AI to address real-world challenges. Across non-profits and communities, AI skills expand more inclusive access to productivity and opportunities in the creative economy. Meanwhile, in the public sector, AI skilling is strengthening public services, data-driven decision-making, and responsible governance.

The need to broaden access to these skills is becoming increasingly important as AI reshapes how people across Indonesia work. The latest Microsoft Work Trend Index 2026 showed that 33% of Indonesian workers are already Frontier Professionals, while 72% of AI users in Indonesia said they are now able to produce work they could not have done a year ago. These findings further underscore the importance of ensuring that progress in AI adoption is followed by broader and more inclusive access to the relevant skills.

“Beyond being proud to have equipped 2.4 million people with AI skills, we are also grateful that this community includes madrasah teachers across 38 provinces, people with disabilities, and civil servants across multiple regions in Indonesia. At Microsoft, we believe that AI readiness only creates meaningful impact when access to AI skills is inclusive. That is why our commitment goes beyond training. We want to ensure that every person has an equal opportunity to shape Indonesia’s future in the AI era,” said Gunawan Susanto, Managing Director, Microsoft Indonesia.

Transforming Education, Including Pesantren Communities

Together with its partners, Microsoft strengthens the capabilities of educators and students, enabling them to integrate AI into how they teach, learn, and create. This impact is reflected in more AI-ready educators and new innovations that are transforming the learning experience.

  • Through the AI Teaching Power program, NUCare Global by LAZISNU has equipped nearly 59,000 educators from pesantren and madrasah communities across 38 provinces. The skilling even have reached more than 2.3 million beneficiary students, while laying the groundwork for Gerakan Pesantren Cakap AI, an initiative designed to bring AI skills to even more pesantren and madrasah communities.
  • More than 112,000 participants have taken part in the AILeap Nusantara program led by Fokus Target, with 50,000 earning Microsoft credentials. Through a learning-to-creation approach, the program encourages participants to turn their AI skills into innovative work that is relevant to their needs.
  • Through its LEAPS (Learn, Explore, Amplify, Present, Shine) approach, Alkademi has engaged more than 85,000 teachers in AI training, while extending the impact of AI-enabled learning to nearly 65,000 teachers and 2,734 students across 407 cities and regencies. The program has also supported dozens of school teams across Indonesia in developing AI-powered solutions.
  • Biji-biji Initiative has reached more than 200,000 educators and engaged 2,359 master trainers who help strengthen the capabilities of teachers and education professionals from primary through upper-secondary levels through the Microsoft Elevate: AI for Educators program.

Empowering Communities Through Inclusive Access

To reach broader segments of society, a range of initiatives are focused on expanding access to practical AI skills, from improving productivity and workforce readiness to creating more inclusive economic opportunities for communities across Indonesia.

  • To strengthen job readiness for Indonesian talents, GreatNusa by BINUS University has reached more than 50,000 university students, professionals, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) owners, local communities, and young talent through the AI Career Boost program. More than 1,200 participants have also earned the globally recognized Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900) certification.
  • Through the Microsoft Elevate Training Center, Dicoding has reached more than 45,000 participants, including IT students, fresh graduates, IT professionals, and technopreneurs. More than 35,000 participants have earned credentials through the training.
  • Meanwhile, the EQUAL program initiated by Alunjiva Indonesia has expanded inclusive access to AI learning for more than 112,000 people, including women, young people, and vulnerable communities, among them more than 8,600 people with disabilities.

Strengthening Public Services and Shaping the Direction of AI Policy

As Indonesia accelerates the digital transformation in public sectors, Microsoft Elevate is also contributing to stronger capabilities among civil servants while fostering continued dialogue on AI governance and regulation that reflects Indonesia’s needs.

  • Through collaboration with more than 100 partners and 30 government institutions at the national and regional levels, BINAR has trained more than 145,000 AI learners across Indonesia through the GARUDA AI program. The program is designed to strengthen the capabilities of civil servants in delivering more adaptive and responsive public services.
  • As AI regulations and governance frameworks continue to take shape, AMANA Solutions, together with the Ministry of Creative Economy, has engaged more than 10 ministries and government institutions as well as 60 stakeholders in ongoing dialogue on AI governance in the creative industries. The initiative focuses on protecting human contributions, promoting transparency in the use of AI, and safeguarding rights related to digital identity.

Creating Real-World Impact, From Environmental Solutions to Public Policy

Behind these achievements are inspiring young talents who demonstrate how AI skills can transform the way people create and empower others. They are changemakers who make technology more meaningful in everyday life.

Through the Microsoft Elevate Training Center initiated by Dicoding, Muhammad Yusuf Fadhel Marwiji, known as Ucup, from Makassar, and Emejleano Rusmin Nggepo, known as Lano, from Tangerang Regency, strengthened their AI and cloud computing skills to unlock new opportunities. With a background in forestry, Ucup uses machine learning to help map flood risks. Meanwhile, Lano, an Informatics student, overcame device limitations by using cloud and AI technologies to build an application that helps people with visual impairments recognize objects around them.

“The true impact of AI skilling comes when people can apply what they learn to address real needs in their communities. Through our collaboration with Microsoft Elevate, we have seen talents from diverse regions and backgrounds strengthen their skills, create meaningful solutions, and open new opportunities for those around them. Yusuf and Lano show how access to relevant skills can turn potential into real-world impact,” said Narenda Wicaksono, CEO of Dicoding Indonesia.

The same spirit of innovation is also taking shape in the public policy sector. Syaravina Lubis, a legal analyst who previously served on an expert team at the Regional House of Representatives of North Sumatra Province, uses Microsoft Copilot to accelerate policy analysis and has developed AI-powered tools to map regulatory gaps and implementation needs. In another example, Janu Dwi Kristianto, through his work at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, uses AI to simplify risk analysis and technical materials so they can be more readily applied by fisheries practitioners in the field.

Turning Impact Into Lasting Progress

The Microsoft Elevate journey demonstrates that the true impact of AI emerges when skills are translated into solutions, and those solutions create progress for more people. From pesantren classrooms to public policy, Microsoft and its partners will continue to broaden access to AI skills and equip more communities across Indonesia to use AI productively and responsibly, helping drive progress for the country.
