Vietnam, November 21, 2023: Today, Microsoft Vietnam has been named the “AmCham ESG Impact Awards 2023″ by the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam) for its outstanding achievement in Environment, Society and Governance (ESG) initiatives in Vietnam.

AmCham ESG Impact Awards are annually organized to recognize and honor companies and organizations with clear goals, measured results, and meaningful collaboration with community or non-profit organizations in ESG areas.

In 2022, Microsoft successfully coordinated with the Dariu Foundation Vietnam to deploy the ASEAN Cybersecurity Skilling Program, aiming to raise awareness of cybersecurity issues and combat cybercrime in Vietnam through human resource development. The program improved basic knowledge about cybersecurity and career opportunities for 84 teachers and 5,354 teenagers, of which 33% are women, from 15 universities, high schools and colleges across the country.

Mr. Kieu Manh Toan, Enterprise Commercial and Public Sector Lead of Microsoft Vietnam, said: “We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the companies with outstanding contribution to the local environment, society and governance by AmCham Vietnam. At Microsoft, our mission is to empower every person and organization to achieve more. We also believe that people are the greatest source of strength and we constantly strive to expand digital skilling programs in Vietnam to underprivileged communities such as women, students and people in remote areas or anyone in the country so they can be ready to develop and protect themselves in the cyberspace.”

Microsoft has been operating in Vietnam since 1996. Over the past 27 years, Microsoft has collaborated with Vietnamese non-profit and non-government organizations to implement many programs that empower various communities in Vietnam to achieve more. The company has implemented numerous projects to equip students with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills such as the YouthSpark Digital Inclusion program for the youth, the Enable Boat Project in river areas, and digitally upskilling program for the Grab Vietnam’s driver-partners. Recently, Microsoft has also cooperated with IOM Vietnam, JA Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training; and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs to launch free online learning platforms to offer basic digital skilling courses for more than 66.5 thousand people across the country.
