Microsoft Great Plains Announces Availability of FRx Forecaster 4.01 For Its Dynamics, Solomon and eEnterprise Solutions

FARGO, N.D., Nov. 5, 2001 — Microsoft® Great Plains® Business Solutions today announced the availability of FRx Forecaster version 4.01 as an add-on product to its Dynamics, Solomon and eEnterprise business management solutions. FRx Forecaster is a budgeting and planning application from FRx Software Corp., a Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions company. FRx Forecaster was most recently known as ebudgets.com in March 2001.

FRx Forecaster 4.01 is available for the latest releases of the Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics, Solomon and eEnterprise solutions. It enables customers to effortlessly deploy budgeting data throughout their organizations, allowing them to manage budgets to actual information, plan effectively and collaborate quickly with management teams in a Web-based environment, and helping them achieve business objectives more efficiently.

FRx Forecaster 4.01 features support of the extensible markup language (XML) standard for streamlining the exchange of data. This standard greatly facilitates the exchange of information between best-of-breed solutions from multiple vendors. The use of XML helps users shorten implementation times, alleviating errors and diminishing the need for customized interchange mechanisms and the rekeying of information imported from multiple sources.

FRx Forecaster 4.01 also includes enhancements to the system’s administrative, setup, input and reporting features — widening the gap in capabilities between FRx Forecaster and competing products.

In addition to the ability to import and export XML files, FRx Forecaster 4.01 includes a wide range of enhanced features that build on the software’s functionality, ease of use, performance and security. Those improvements include the following:

  • New options for consolidated reporting

  • Wizards that guide users through the process of creating new exchange rates, lists for allocations and enhanced security, among other tasks

  • Expanded use of drop-down boxes and icons for maximum ease of use

  • Ability to copy detail data (about line items, personnel, capital and margin between budget versions)

  • Global recalculations of formulas for some or all cost centers, projects, etc.

  • Support for up to 1,000 unique versions of budgets, forecasts, and
    “what-if”
    or actual scenarios

  • A direct interface to FRx Forecaster from FRx Financial Reporting, for reporting and analysis of budget and actual financial data

Pricing and Availability

The initial FRx Forecaster 4.01 module price for Dynamics, Solomon and eEnterprise is $15,000 (U.S.) and includes five named FRx Forecaster users.
