Microsoft Announces Laura Jennings Named Vice President of MSN; Russell Siegelman to Assume New Responsibilities

REDMOND, Wash. – April 12, 1996 – Microsoft Corp.today announced that Laura Jennings will become vice president of MSN
™
, The Microsoft Network division. Russell Siegelman, previously the vice president of MSN, will assume new responsibilities within the company.

“I have been working here since the day we decided to create MSN and am very proud of what we have accomplished,”
Siegelman said.
“In the seven months since its introduction, MSN has reached more than 1 million users, which is far beyond what we had expected for such a new service. This is the perfect time for me to take on new challenges at Microsoft and to pass on the reins to a new leader.”

“Russ has made tremendous contributions to MSN, such as the people he has attracted to develop the service and the critical infrastructure he established for MSN,”
said Patty Stonesifer, senior vice president of the interactive media division at Microsoft.
“We are thrilled to have Laura lead MSN. With her eight years at Microsoft, she brings technical and management expertise that will be invaluable as we continue to grow our 1 million members on MSN.”

Prior to joining MSN, Jennings was general manager of the workgroup applications division and was also senior director of marketing for the consumer systems division.

Siegelman’s new responsibilities will be announced in the near future, and he will continue reporting to Stonesifer. Jennings will also report to Stonesifer.
