Microsoft Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo – President Makoto Naruke), is to hold
“Feel Windows 98 Fair”
an event to promote the release on July 25 th (Sat.), of
“Microsoft® Windows® 98”
Japanese Version (
“Windows 98”
) throughout Japan and on the Internet. The fair will take place from June 17 th (Wed.) to August 31 st (Mon.), where people can experience the new world offered by Windows 98 and PCs.
“Feel Windows 98 Fair”
offers the opportunity to experience Windows 98 and various other events, including the introduction of products on the Internet which enable users to see the features prior to purchase. Each program will be held in cooperation with our partners, including PC hardware vendors, device vendors, software vendors, retailers, PC schools and the electrical stores promotion associations. Technical information will be available for users to promote their upgrade to Windows 98 smoothly.

consists of the following programs:
Windows 98 Japan Tour
“Windows 98 Japan Tour”
is a free seminar for experiencing Windows 98, held at various PC schools and approximately 200 Microsoft Official Training Schools (MOTS) throughout the country. This seminar introduces the new lifestyle Windows 98 will bring, with new video clips, and provides the opportunity for participants to operate some of the new features of Windows 98 with their own hands. Each participant will be presented with the
“Windows 98 STYLE BOOK”
, specially edited by
“Men’s Walker”
magazine published by Kadokawa Shoten, and the
“Windows 98 STYLE BOX”
(not for sale), which includes a demo CD-ROM for trying Windows 98. Participants will also have the chance to receive Windows 98 original goods, designed exclusively for the Windows 98 Japan Tour.

Windows 98 Information Center
Integrated information centers will be opened at specialty electronic retail areas (
“Denden towns”
) in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, where support engineers of Microsoft Co., Ltd. and PC manufacturers can directly answer users’ questions. At the same time, users can enjoy the Windows 98 super-demo-station and the displays of different hardware manufacturers.

Windows World Expo Tokyo 98
Windows World Expo Tokyo 98 is a big event where software and hardware compatible with Windows 98 meet together at one location. The Microsoft booth is an exhibition where participants can grasp the features of Windows 98, including a special demonstration onstage:
“Experience Windows 98”
and a place where users can gather the latest information on the new products compatible with Windows 98. From 10:45 a.m. to 12 noon, July 1 (Wed.), Susumu Furukawa, chairman of Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd., is to give a keynote speech under the title,
“The Future of Windows”
, where he will introduce and demonstrate Windows 98.
