REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., and REDMOND, Wash., May 11, 1999 — Centura® Software Corp. (Nasdaq
“CNTR”
), a leader in secure, embedded micro and
e-business databases and development solutions, today announced its entry into the Microsoft® Windows® Distributed interNet Applications (Windows DNA) Architecture Partner program. Centura also expects to deliver later this year a Windows 2000-ready version of its Web 4GL Centura Team Developer.
Developers require a way to make Web application development faster and easier. The next release of Centura Team Developer will enhance its existing Web 4GL capabilities with additional Web extensions that provide a smooth transition from client/server to the Web. Windows DNA provides a stable base of common services that provide the infrastructure for distributed computing. In the future, Centura’s continued support of Windows DNA and Windows 2000 will increase the availability of enterprise level solutions running on the Windows platform.
“With Centura’s announcement of support for Windows DNA, Web 4GL developers can use the key technologies of Windows DNA to build integrated enterprise applications without having to re-create the solution each time,”
said Jigish Avalani, group manager of Windows DNA Marketing at Microsoft.
“With businesses migrating toward distributed Internet applications, Windows DNA is the obvious strategic framework to build upon,”
said Joe Falcone, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Centura.
“Therefore, we make development and deployment in that environment as productive and seamless as possible. The OLE DB provider for SQLBase SafeGarde, Centura’s secure embedded database server, allows business application developers to integrate secure data storage into the Windows DNA architecture. Windows DNA also gives the Centura Team Developer and SQLWindows developers and their customers access to 21st century software technologies like COM, OLE DB and XML. When enterprises building Internet business solutions need a robust, proven development environment, we are it. It’s that simple.”
The Powerful Combination of Centura and Microsoft Windows DNA
With the advent of distributed, Internet and appliance-based computing, business information is created, stored and transferred around the globe. The Windows DNA architecture provides the infrastructure necessary to easily conduct business in this environment. Centura provides its world-class Web 4GL application development environment, the first secure embedded database – SQLBase SafeGarde – and a host of open connectivity products. This powerful combination allows organizations to quickly develop and deploy e-business applications across the enterprise that are stable and secure whether operating on a Web browser, an information appliance or a client/server terminal. The resulting reduced time to market comes with no increase in risk because the technologies used are proven and robust.
