REDMOND, Wash., March 27, 2001 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the appointment of Mark Pawlosky as editor in chief of the Microsoft® MSN® MoneyCentral™
online personal finance service. In this role, Pawlosky will lead the respected MoneyCentral editorial staff, whose articles and columns discuss investing topics and other personal finance issues.
A familiar face to Microsoft, Pawlosky previously served as chief editor of MSN News and executive producer at MSNBC.com. Before joining Microsoft, Pawlosky worked as a reporter for several daily newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal. Most recently, Pawlosky worked for Onvia.com as vice president and editor in chief.
“Mark brings nearly 20 years of journalistic experience including significant online know-how to lead the MoneyCentral editorial team in delivering the best financial content to consumers,”
said Erik Jorgensen, general manager for MSN MoneyCentral.
One of the primary objectives of the MoneyCentral editorial staff is to provide unique insight on current market activities. With experts such as Jim Jubak, former editor at Worth magazine; Jon Markman, former executive news editor at the Los Angeles Times; and Jeff Schnepper, tax attorney and author of the best-selling book
“How to Pay Zero Taxes,”
the MoneyCentral editorial team offers a valuable perspective on today’s market trends and investing issues. Specifically, Jubak and Markman provide insight based on market analyses to help consumers make smarter investing decisions. Validea, the Web’s premier source for financial analyst and media ratings located at http://www.validea.com/ , recently recognized both experts’ columns — Markman’s Supermodels, and Jubak’s Journal — as two of the top 10 stock-picking columns based on their one-year performance measurement. This ranking was derived from the columnists’ hundreds of stock-picking recommendations since Jan. 1, 1999, which earned average rates of return of 57-percent and 42-percent respectively.
“Validea recognition of our columnists is proof of the team’s dedication to providing investors with the most valuable resources they need to make smarter financial decisions,”
Pawlosky said.
