Microsoft and several partners launched the highest-capacity subsea cable to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
Called Marea, Spanish for “tide,” the 4,000-mile-long cable between Virginia Beach, Virginia and Bilbao, Spain provides up to 160 terabits of data per second — more than 16 million times faster than the average home internet connection.
Situated south of other transatlantic cables, Marea will help safeguard against events disrupting transatlantic connectivity.
