Manchester City will break records and West Brom will be relegated this weekend, Bing predicts

Manchester City will break at least two Premier League records this weekend and West Bromwich Albion will be relegated, Bing has predicted.

The Sky Blues, who have already been crowned champions, will beat Huddersfield on Sunday to rack up the most points and wins in a single season, according to Microsoft’s search engine.

Pep Guardiola’s team have 93 points with three games remaining, and have an 89% chance of beating the Terriers in a few days’ time. That would take them past Chelsea’s record of 95 points, set in the 2004/2005 season. It will also be their 31st victory of the campaign, eclipsing the 30 that Chelsea notched up in 2016/17.

Man City will also claim the record for most goals scored in a single season if they put more than one past Huddersfield – they have 102, and Chelsea hold the record with 103 in 2009/10.

Premier League predictions

Guardiola has urged his side to become the “best team in English history”.

“Once we won the Premier League, the target is the numbers [records]. It will not be easy to break the records, so we will have to play well. It’s good to see something to fight for, to achieve something,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

At the other end of the table, West Brom‘s eight-year stay in the top-flight will come to an end when they slump to defeat at home to Tottenham.

Spurs have a 43% chance of victory, which will keep the Baggies on 28 points and at least five points inside the relegation zone with just one game remaining.

Judging by the history of this fixture, it doesn’t look good for West Brom. Tottenham are unbeaten in their past seven Premier League visits to The Hawthorns (won three and drawn four), in a run that’s stretches back to December 2008. With 15 away goals this season, Spurs striker Harry Kane is only one away from equalling Kevin Phillips’s record for most away goals in a single Premier League campaign (16 in 1999/00). This is Kane’s last away match.

Stoke will give themselves a fighting chance of beating the drop by taking all three points against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Potters have a 55% chance of taking a crucial victory at the Bet365 Stadium that will leave them with 33 points and only inside the bottom three on goal difference.

Joining them on the same number of points will be Southampton, who have a 38% chance of taking a point at Everton, and Swansea, who will lose against Bournemouth.

After this weekend’s matches, Stoke will have one more game to play, while Swansea and Southampton will have two.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will drop from third to fourth after losing at Chelsea. The Blues have a 37% chance of victory, which will keep them in fifth place but just three points behind the Reds in the final Champions League qualification spot.

Premier League table

Manchester United will move to the brink of sealing second place in the league on Friday night by beating Brighton at the Amex Stadium. Jose Mourinho’s men have a 50% chance of taking all three points, which will leave them needing one more to take the runners-up medal. They have won their past four meetings with Brighton in all competitions, without conceding a single goal.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Leicester have a 50% chance of beating West Ham, Watford have a 48% chance of taking all three points at home to Newcastle, and Arsenal have been handed a 45% chance of sweeping aside Burnley at the Emirates.
