Microsoft Asia today unveiled findings from its first ever Asia Data Culture Study 2016, which showed that while 88% of business leaders polled in Asia agreed that it is important for their organizations to have an agile business that is data-driven, less than half of them (43%) believe they have a full digital strategy in place. Business leaders also identified gaps in their organizations’ ability to implement data driven decision making.

Microsoft Asia today announced the launch of its Malware Infection Index 2016 (MII2016), which identifies the key malware threats in the region and ranks markets in Asia according to how much they are affected.

As part of the agreement, Xiaomi will ship Microsoft Office and Skype on Xiaomi Android smartphones and tablets. As a result, tens of millions of consumers and business customers in China, India and around the world will have new ways to work, collaborate and communicate. The companies’ new collaboration also includes a cross-license and patent transfer agreement.

The grants are a component of the $75M commitment Microsoft made to increase access to computer science education around the world through Microsoft YouthSpark, as announced by Satya Nadella last year. Microsoft is partnering with these nonprofits by providing cash grants, content and other resources they need to bring computational thinking and problem-solving skills to young people in local communities, important building blocks to help them succeed in today’s tech-fueled economy.

78% of Asia Pacific respondents and 75% of Hong Kong respondents indicated that work-life balance was important to their jobs. In Greater China, more respondents from Taiwan (79%) take work-life balance most seriously and accorded it as an important job aspect than their counterparts in the Asia Pacific.

While Cyberport has announced earlier this year that they will introduce Smart-Space FinTech, a dedicated 3,000-square-meter co-working space for FinTech at Cyberport, Microsoft will offer technological support to FinTech startups through Microsoft’s BizSpark program.

Microsoft Hong Kong and Cyberport will also collaborate closely to offer workshops, training and pitching sessions to help these entrepreneurs understand and use all the available service offerings to enable fast application development. They will also work together to connect promising startups with customers and partners in Hong Kong and the rest of the world.
