The Redmond-based company is going to celebrate two decades of Visual Studio by rolling out Visual Studio 2017 on March 7. Julia Liuson, Corporate VP, Visual Studio at Microsoft wrote in a blog post, “Today, I’m proud and humbled that Visual Studio is turning twenty – we’re celebrating two decades of Visual Studio! As we hit this great milestone, I’m also excited to announce that Visual Studio 2017 will be released on March 7.”

CIOL: Bing partners Zomato to simplify the food-ordering process

Microsoft’s Bing, has partnered with Zomato to offer restaurant search and reviews in an easy-to-use way. Bing will also provide a link to easily access all the reviews. Once the user enters the restaurant name, Bing will display images of dishes in the menu and its ambience. Users can also check directions, contact number, restaurant open hours and other details on Bing.

Financial Express: Indians do better on `digital civility’ indicators, says Microsoft survey

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day (SID), software firm Microsoft released the findings of a survey conducted across 14 countries through its Digital Civility Index (DCI). The Digital Civility Index is part of Microsoft’s initiative to raise awareness on the need for digital civility. “We need to further educate young adults, parents, educators, and policymakers about the real-world consequences of negative online interactions, which can have serious consequences,” said, Madhu Khatri, Associate General Counsel, Microsoft India.

Open Source For You: Microsoft adds PowerShell Core to its own repository

Microsoft has published the latest PowerShell Core 6.0 alpha 15 on its Packages repository. All the PowerShell Core releases were previously published on GitHub repository, but the new change has made its installation much easier. To install the latest PowerShell Core alpha version, you need to register on Microsoft’s repository as a super user. You can update and install the framework using a terminal command after gaining superuser access.

Gadgets 360: Microsoft Outlook for iOS now supports Add-Ins from Evernote, Giphy, and more

Microsoft has announced support for add-ins from third-party applications in its Outlook email app for iOS. The first lineup of apps that are getting the support from Outlook are Evernote, Giphy, Nimble, Trello, and Spreadsheet. Additionally, the Redmond-based company has also made its own add-ins available for the Outlook app in the form of Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Translator.
