Rajiv Kumar is managing director and president of the Microsoft India Development Center (IDC) and Corporate Vice President of the Experiences and Devices (E+D) India Group. Under his leadership, IDC has become one of Microsoft’s largest development centres globally.

Rajiv leads large teams dedicated to reinventing productivity and collaboration through AI and intelligent Cloud solutions, addressing some of the most pressing business and societal challenges.  Over his 30-year career at Microsoft in the US and India, Rajiv has driven innovations across landmark products like Visual Basic Compiler, SharePoint, Microsoft Office (mobile, web, desktop), and Copilot. As a founding member of BizTalk and Kaizala, he has contributed to productivity suites, developer tools, and consumer applications. Rajiv also led mobile innovations like Sprightly (precursor to Designer) and worked on Windows and Security, which have positively impacted billions of people globally.

Rajiv envisions IDC as a hub of innovation that plays a key role in driving India’s global AI leadership. He is deeply committed to creating inclusive technology that addresses planet-scale challenges and aligns with Microsoft’s mission of empowering every person and organization across the world to achieve more.

Rajiv holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from IIT Roorkee and a master’s degree from University of Texas, Austin. With more than 25 patents to his name, he continues to drive innovation and inclusivity in technology. He can be followed on LinkedIn.
