Rajiv Kumar is managing director at Microsoft India Development Center and corporate vice president for Experiences + Devices business group in India.

He started his career at Microsoft as a software development engineer in Redmond and moved to India 20 years ago to establish the Microsoft India Development Center. Over the course of his 30 years at Microsoft, Rajiv has made deep contributions to landmark products, including various technologies spanning productivity suite, developer tools, distributed systems, and consumer applications that have positively impacted billions of people worldwide.

Rajiv completed his Bachelor’s in Computer Science from IIT Roorkee, followed by a Master’s at the University of Texas, Austin. He holds more than 25 patents and was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award for Excellence in Engineering Innovation by IITR in 2019.

Rajiv is passionate about developing inclusive technology to build products that address planet-scale needs. His vision for IDC is to create a world-class strategic development center and be the source of innovation for the next billion users, helping Microsoft achieve its mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. He is known for his humility and optimism, and outside of work, he enjoys practicing yoga, meditation, cycling, and spending time with his family.
