DNA: Microsoft India releases Assassin’s Creed Kinect Bundle on Amazon

Microsoft India, in partnership with Ubisoft, announced a new exclusive Xbox One “Assassin’s Creed” bundle with Kinect, priced at Rs 45,990 and available exclusively on Amazon. The exclusive bundle will also include a copy of a previous Ubisoft flagship, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Anshu Mor, Interactive Entertainment Business director at Microsoft India, said, “Assassin’s Creed is one of the biggest franchises on our platform and this unique partnership defines our commitment to gamers in India and enhances the overall gaming ecosystem in the country.”

VAR India: Microsoft inks deal with Opera Software

According to an agreement signed between Microsoft and Opera Software, from the first quarter of 2015, people who access Nokia Store from Series 40, Series 60, Symbian, Asha and Nokia X devices will be automatically redirected to Opera Mobile Store, where they will be offered the opportunity to become customers of Opera Mobile Store and have access to tens of thousands of apps for their Nokia phones. “We continue to sell and support classic Nokia devices, which remain popular in many parts of the world,” said Rich Bernardo, Vice-President – Phones, Microsoft.

The new secure identity self-service helps users manage digital identities for use in the cloud and offers enhanced administrator security, according to Microsoft.

In an official announcement, Microsoft stated that Nokia Lumia devices running on Windows 8 will go on to get an upgrade to Windows 10. This was announced on the official Microsoft Lumia Twitter account, as a response to a customer’s question. The company says Microsoft 10 will unify all Microsoft devices across form factors. Apart from PCs, laptops and smartphones, the new operating system will be available on gaming consoles and wearables.

Business Standard: Microsoft rolls out Skype for web browsers

Microsoft has released a test version of Skype that lets people make Internet calls from web browsers, eliminating the need to install special applications. “It’s perfect if you prefer using the web rather than an app: perhaps you’re sitting at a computer that doesn’t already have Skype downloaded,” Microsoft said in a blog post. Skype for Web will be available to a small number of existing users at first and will be rolled out globally in the coming months, according to Microsoft.

The bull run in Microsoft’s stock this year has helped the tech giant surpass Exxon Mobil and seize the rank of the second most valuable company, behind Apple Inc. Under new CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft has pledged to return the focus on mobile technology and cloud computing. His efforts have fuelled a stock surge that drove Microsoft’s total market value above $410 billion leapfrogging Exxon’s value of $404 billion.
