Azhar Abdullah is the Senior Director for Public Sector at Microsoft Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, Azhar leads a dynamic team of account executives and technologists, supported by a robust local and regional partner ecosystem, to realize Microsoft’s mission of empowering every person and every organization in Malaysia to achieve more.
Azhar and his team drive innovation and digital transformation within Malaysia’s public sector. Their efforts focus on increasing operational efficiency, enhancing productivity, and improving citizen services through the breadth and depth of Microsoft’s trusted Cloud and AI technology platforms.
With over 27 years of professional experience, Azhar has a distinguished career history. Prior to joining Microsoft, he served as the Country Sales Leader for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Malaysia and Brunei from 2020 to 2024. He also spent 22 years in the global energy sector with Schlumberger (SLB), holding various sales, supply chain, human resource, and general management roles across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe with his last role at Schlumberger as Country Managing Director for Malaysia.
Azhar holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University, USA. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, particularly family road trips across ASEAN, Europe, and the USA, exploring new sights and hidden beauties along the road less traveled.
