The Ministry of Education and Higher Education Signs MoU with Microsoft, Starlink to Promote Technology in Education

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), Microsoft Qatar and Starlink have jointly signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at cooperating to enhance and accelerate the adoption of technology in Qatar’s educational sector.

HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar Lana Khalaf, and CEO of Starlink Munera Fahad Al Dosari signed the MoU.

Commenting on the MOU, the Ministry noted that the agreement will activate and strengthen private public partnerships to develop a blended learning model using advanced technology tools and resources. They added that this is aligned with the Ministry’s strategy for e-learning as well as its human development pillar all part of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi stated: “The partnership with Microsoft and Starlink aims to provide the educational system with the expertise and best practices to enhance innovation and creativity and enable students and teachers to actively participate in the educational process.” He stressed upon development programs where the MOU will serve the educational process.

His Excellency also added that while the cooperation will accelerate the Ministry’s e-learning strategy, it will also increase the motivation and innovation of students and their interaction with educational resources. He stated” “Everyone will be able to obtain Microsoft’s educational devices and technology making the most of e-learning and enhancing the capabilities of both teachers and students alike.”

Lana Khalaf, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar, reiterated that the cooperation is part of Microsoft’s long term strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and is in line with Microsoft’s global goal to enable every individual and institution to achieve their goals and capabilities.

Khalaf said: “The initiative is an integral part of the Ministry’s framework for its e-learning strategy. This strategy aims to provide every student and teacher in Qatar with access to a smart Surface device with all the educational features necessary to develop their digital capabilities and prepare them for the jobs of the future.”

CEO of Starlink Munera Fahad Al Dosari commented: “At Starlink, we have developed an online sales platform built specifically for this initiative. It offers affordable payment plans and other benefits that will make it easy for each individual to choose the package most appropriate for him or her.”

As per Al Dosari, the initiative will be launched soon offering students, teachers, and parents educational packages which include Surface devices, programs, and applications in varying specifications and at affordable prices.
