On Tuesday, eight security bulletins were released by the Microsoft Security Response Center. Dustin Childs, Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing group manager for response communications, urges users to take immediate action.

Publication is based on lessons learned from customers and governments around the world, and is intended to aid governmental efforts to develop national cybersecurity strategies that set a clear direction to establish and improve cybersecurity for government, academia, enterprises, consumers and the ICT companies who serve those communities.

In late July, we announced some new initiatives for the Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP). Since the July announcement, we’ve been working on two initiatives as a single beta with a limited set of customers and partners. Read all about it.

“The third annual Microsoft Computing Safety Index (MCSI), a gauge to help assess consumer online habits and behaviors, shows that only 40 percent of U.S. respondents, on average, say they’ve turned on their computer’s firewall and left it on,” writes Microsoft Chief Online Safety Officer Jacqueline Beauchere in a blog post.
