Microsoft Business Solutions — Axapta 3.0 Boosts Connectivity For Medium-Sized Businesses

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Oct. 28, 2002 Today at the 2002 APICS International Conference and Exposition, Microsoft® Business Solutions announced the release of Microsoft Business Solutions Axapta® 3.0, an integrated business management solution created specifically for growing medium-sized businesses. This latest version gives customers even greater access to the business information and processes they need to do their work through a new Web framework. In addition, Axapta 3.0 (formerly Navision® Axapta) offers new capabilities and enhancements across the manufacturing, distribution and financial applications.

One of the key features of the release is Axapta Enterprise Portal, a framework for launching personalized Web sites directly from Axapta. The product builds on previous Internet connectivity with expanded roles and functionality. Businesses using Axapta can now securely connect relevant stakeholders including partners, customers and employees directly to Axapta, including those who previously worked offline and outside the system. The extended community has greater access to the exact information that they need to make timely business decisions. Reports and catalogs can be viewed with the ability to register project hours, participate in discussion forums, and publish and exchange documents such as electronic drawings. A supplier, for example, can log in and share information regarding items, purchases and shipment, reducing the need for phone calls, faxes or e-mail messages, and ensuring the delivery of accurate data. System-to-system interaction can eliminate duplication of manual data entry. Multiple language and currency capabilities also enable businesses to work in the language and currency of their choice.

“Businesses are constantly looking for ways to reduce costs and save time through greater efficiencies. Enterprise Portal naturally extends the solution’s strengths to the Internet and opens the door for cost-effective ways of improving business processes,”
said Niels Bo Theilgaard, general manager of Microsoft Business Solutions, Denmark.

Axapta 3.0 also builds on the deep manufacturing functionality in Axapta with new intercompany collaboration and inventory management capabilities. Subsidiaries or distribution centers can trade internally and rely on an accurate overview of stock availability throughout the business. The creation of sales and purchase orders is automated, and all trading is conducted within one Axapta installation. Warehouse management also is easier with improved inventory dimensions, tracking system and bar code functionality.

Axapta 3.0 is available in 17 countries, including the United States and Canada. It will be distributed and implemented through Microsoft Business Solutions’ reselling partner channel.
