Committed to creating a sustainable impact in the community, Microsoft Philippines and Thomson Reuters Manila have teamed up to provide Gawad Kalinga’s School for Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) a computer lab with 75 personal computers running on the latest Windows 8.1 operating system.

“Our partnership with Gawad Kalinga and like-minded companies like Thomson Reuters reflect Microsoft’s long-standing commitment to empower communities through technology,” said Karrie Ilagan, General Manager of Microsoft Philippines. ”By providing students in SEED with the latest Windows 8.1 operating system, we hope to contribute to their holistic formation and enable them to be future-ready.”

“Thomson Reuters and Microsoft finding each other and making the sum of our joint resources be put to greater use for Gawad Kalinga scholars is the best example of how we do partnership  and live our corporate responsibility mantra to “make a difference,” said Peter Buenaseda, Senior Site Officer and Head of Human Resources, Thomson Reuters Manila.

“The generous donation of computers to SEED by Microsoft and Thomson Reuters will go a long way in helping us provide the best education and technology to deserving and striving students from poor farming families and relocated informal settlers in GK communities in Central Luzon,” said Tony Meloto, Founder and Chairman of Gawad Kalinga.
