Microsoft Announces Channel Availability of Microsoft Developer Network

Microsoft PressPass – Microsoft Announces Channel Availability of Microsoft Developer Network

REDMOND, Wash., April 8, 1996 — Responding to requests from developers and industry resellers, Microsoft Corp. today announced that Microsoft®
Developer Network will be available in reseller channels for the first time beginning May 1. Microsoft Developer Network is an essential companion for developers implementing Microsoft technologies. By making Microsoft Developer Network available through resellers, Microsoft gives developers what many have asked for: the breadth of Microsoft’s knowledge, resources and technology, and the accessibility of local resellers.

According to Ron Gutman, product marketing manager at Programmer’s Super Shop,
“Microsoft Developer Network is a key tool for any developer wanting to effectively and efficiently develop programs that meet the demands of today’s and tomorrow’s users.”

Over the past three years, Microsoft Developer Network has grown into a worldwide program with more than 120,000 subscribers. In recognition of the program’s success in meeting the needs of developers, Microsoft Developer Network received the 1995 Jolt Cola Award for Product Excellence.

Microsoft Developer Network Adds New Product

Beginning in May, Microsoft Developer Network will provide four offerings through the reseller channel:

  • Microsoft Developer Network Library Subscription (formerly Level 1). The Library is the essential reference for developers creating Windows®
operating system-based solutions. Subscribers receive four quarterly updates of the Library CD, each containing more than 1.5 GB of technical programming information and samples.

  • Microsoft Developer Network Professional Subscription (formerly Level 2). To keep developers on the leading edge of technology, the Professional Subscription delivers the latest released and prerelease versions of the Windows and
    Windows NT®
Workstation operating systems, and all Microsoft software development kits (SDKs), and device driver kits (DDKs) throughout the year, in addition to the quarterly Library CD. International versions are also offered.

  • Microsoft Developer Network Enterprise Subscription (formerly Level 3). An Enterprise Subscription is simply the most efficient, comprehensive and cost-effective way to develop and test client-server solutions for the Microsoft BackOffice
    ™
family. An Enterprise Subscription delivers all the benefits of a Professional Subscription plus the latest released and prerelease versions of Microsoft BackOffice as they’re available.

  • New Microsoft Developer Network Library Single Edition. As part of the channel launch, Microsoft will introduce a brand new Microsoft Developer Network product. The Library Single Edition offers developers a low-cost option for evaluating the Microsoft Developer Network program before selecting the subscription level that meets their needs. Library Single Edition packages contain the April 1996 edition of the Library.
